SanguineSolitude
can someone convince me to sully my traditional hookah experience by adding in a microwave without using large amounts of b.s. i mean technical terminology.sometimes its neccesary to explain something in a complex scientific way, when it comes to putting tobacco in a microwave, not so much. Sonthert
Thats a very well constructed chemistry experiment. Us engineers done do thangs different. Yeah, I think it would be easier to, using your well received microwave idea, to weigh a quantity of tobacco, microwave it, and weigh, every thirty seconds of full power. Graph the results in excel, devlop a trend line, have Excel extrapolate a systemic equation and then calculate the extrema for the water in the tobacco. If I could get away with putting a $500 scale in the microwave, it would be easier. I did something similiar when I was calculating the amount of time tobacco needed to acclimate, weighing pots, calculating water loss. As an alternative engineering approach, put an amount of tobacco in a pan and weigh it (taring the pan ahead of time, of course) and watch the temperature response. when it gets to, lets say 105F, pull it, let it cool off and reweigh. This would also liberate some annoyingly light flavor components, which might bias the results. They let their tobacco age some, before packaging, I would guess all the evaporation that could take place has taken place. JTemes:yes, nearly no residual water, as I reckon it, means the tobacco smokes up immediately. That would be fun, C-13 coupled! In flavoring they use mainly MS-HPLC technology. We know whats in there, we just don't know how much.
