building hookah site like pricewatch.com

Recommended Posts

This is something Evanslight and I are working on. If you have ever been to http://www.pricewatch.com you already know the premise to this concept. I just bought the domain name Hookahwatch.com.Products included are everything from hookahs, shisha, hoses, and all other accesories you can think of. It will be searchable in many ways as well. General to find the lowest priced hookah or lowest specific hookah like MYA QT will be a popular search you can bet. For vendors that throw in freebies there will be a flag to indicate that while the vendor may not have the lowest price he has extra goodies that may make you more inclined to take that deal. Clicking a vendor name will take you to a page you can check reviews as well as all items they currently have listed and the prices. It will also have their address info etc. Even on those pages a click on a product will take you to a price comparison with other vendors. There are many pros to this idea I think. It gives new vendors a place to establish themselves. Everything from reviews to products to vendors in one place. This will take a while to get going to full speed. We are still working through all the gory details. We have not started on the scripts yet because we don't want to miss out on any ideas some of you may have that we need to consider before launch. So opinions, ideas?

The problem is like, EBay, dishonest guys will raise the S/H and drop the price. Amazon tells them exactly how much they can get and standardizes it. I would recommend this. You know what I've been thinking about, Scalli? What a great contributing member you are to this forum, always with good ideas, always with new inventions, always with good opinions...we're lucky to have you.

At first it will be the store putting up there prices and products, then from there we will update them, along with showing shipping costs, to try and show that. And we will include the shipping thing in our rules :Dand scally is da pirate man !!

Especially coming from you. I have a huge respect for someone like you that actually makes a very viable and respected product. Most people just talk and that is okay. I appreciate all compliments, but some have more impact than others like you. We like to roll the sleeves up and get stuff done. We still have plenty of time to chat still ya know? Waiting for others to get things done just does not work for me.If I spend too much time just yakking tho I feel like I am just wasting too much time. I need things to show for my days or I am not happy.

oooh, logo design contest maybe? Maybe a guy standing between two identical hookahs with ficticious .com names above them. One with a $20 tag and the other with $100 and his reaction to finding the lower..... maybe? ARRRR???

I think it will really help the new retailers get their businesses going. It would be cool to have a "Featured New Store" section so they could get some exposure. I see a lot of innovation in the smaller stores but it is generally lesser quality.

that was one of the best ideas Diz!!! Especially if we can have it give the costs both ways. One column from if it came from one vendor and one that shows the costs from several sites. Any places that have free shipping should be listed before the others as well. That way right off you know the lowest price where shipping is already figured so you know the bottom line the others have to beat. Places that have free shipping over a certain amount need to be notated as well. Ideas like the one Diz had is exactly the input we need. If it's done right it should be good for everybody. Before a vendor buys product for inventory they can check and see if they are getting it at a low enough price to compete. That way they can concentrate on profitable stock with their money too. Businesses can research from this as well in other words if they use it as a tool as well.

I am hoping we can grab data through search features. Vendors should submit their site for search and answer a list of questions, such as shipping costs, shipping policies as far as how long before they ship. And other questions on the form that we can import into the database. It will be free to everybody. The only charges would be vendors wanting to advertise. Look at Pricewatch for an example. Paid ads would link directly to the vendor site for more info on the sale it. All would be clearly noted it is a paid advertisement. And paid ads would help defer the cost of running the site which includes but is not limited to keeping me and Evans drunk

keep the ideas flowing everyone :Das for prices, due to the variations of sites coding, at first i have planned that the vendor will first post all there products and prices, along with shipping costs, and all the info we need. Then for the most part we will update prices as they change. Wouldnt be to hard, just get alot of u guys to help us keep us up to date on the prices :Doh and paid adverts, and donations to our site will go to the drunk and smokin fund for pirates and el's :D
