Could Use A Little Help.

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I'm a fairly new hookah smoker and I've been smoking hookah for maybe a couple of months now and I need a little help from the pros, lol.

So I have a normal sized, smaller hookah that I bought a few months ago and it has worked absolutely wonderful!

We've been using 2 Havana Coals with different Al Faker and Starbuzz shisha and it's tasted great and the hit was perfect.

I recently bought a 30'' tall four hose Hookah from a local Tobacco shop and at first it worked pretty good. As far as we know, it's never been used and it was in pretty good shape. Our first couple of sessions it worked fine with some Al Faker shisha and it was great. We tried it last night and it seemed to not hit much at all. The only difference is our first time we tried it it was only the two of us, so we unblocked two of the stems and hit it. Last night we unblocked one more of the stems to add a third smoker. It didn't hit as good at all. We took it apart, cleaned it and tried it and still not as good as the smaller one. We have blocked the third stem yet again and it still didn't smoke nearly as good. We took it apart one last time and noticed it was missing one ball bearing so we blocked that stem up and it seemed to smoke really great! The only problem was that the medal ball bearings were sticking and letting too much air in. Today we researched that we can grab some plastic ball bearings like air soft bullets and they would work better and not stick. We bought 6mm balls which was the same size as the original balls and we replaced all of the original ones. We tried to hit it tonight and it would not hit good what so ever.

So we did some experimenting. We set up the original and took the bowl off of the big hookah and placed it on the smaller normal sized one with the same hoses. It hit wonderful! We placed it back on the taller one and it would not even hit as good as the original. What in the heck is wrong? We have the correct amount of water in it and we're making sure it's filled with smoke and it still will not hit... anyone got any tips?

Thanks guys!

The more hoses on your hookah the more potential for airleaks, which is what sounds like might be happening.  To check this, fill the hookah with water and draw on a hose while covering the top.  If it stops bubbling there isn't a leak.  Also double check that bb size as I recall .12 being the correct size to fit into most release valves.  Finally, on most multihose hookahs while someone else is taking a draw, the others who are smoking must cover their hoses or you will be getting a dramatically reduced draw due to you also drawing out of the uncapped hose.  hope this helps

setup up your hookah with water and such.. just dont pack a bowl place some plastic( or your thumb) over the top hole where the bowl sits. try to take a pull to see if it is leaking. if you are pulling in air( even if its minimal) there is a leak somewere. Even a slight leak can reduce quality of the session.

You might also try a 1/4" steel bearing. I have a local hardware store i get mine from. I prefer them to the airsoft bb's. But that is just me. I woudl definitly do the air leak test.
