Issues With Newer Nakhla Flavors Lately

Recommended Posts

I wish I saw this first. I purchased both mizo blueberry and iced raspberry recently. Both are having problems and wont acclimate. It may be the humidity in MA. Blueberry smells plastic and like it should be an ice flavor. Ice raspberry has been harsh.

Interesting since you are in MA as well.

Raspberry I got going good again, guava had a day or two of trouble but then came back to life, and I have no issues with ice raspberry.

Mainly just mizo raspberry and mizo blueberry, everything else has been a ok.

Have you acclimated ice raspberry at all?

I haven't yet. I smoked it 2 weeks ago and just cant be bothered with it. My fumari flavors aren't effected so I have been sticking with those. What little time I have to smoke I don't like wasting on flavors that I need to play with.

I have tried to acclimate the blueberry and it just wont smell good.

With the batch you just sent me, the first boxes of the mizo blue and mizo rasp are exactly what I remember the first time I ordered them :)  So mine seem to be working just fine here in humid FL :P

  • 1 month later...

Still having issues with mizo raspberry. The first bowl or two out of the tub are fantastic, then the next few bowls are meh, decent, some rasp flavor with this weird aftertaste. Then the last 4 bowls or so are terrible, barely smokeable, taste awful. I haven't opened blueberry, I am just going to wait til this fall/summer mix of weather passes since 2 boxes I opened in the summer were both a pain. But raspberry, one of my fav mizo flavors, is really starting to get on my nerves. Everything else has been perfect, but that damn raspberry ...

I don't know what to do :-(

I wonder if maybe the tupperware could be an issue ... far fetched I know. But the first few bowls are always good, then it slowly goes south the longer and longer It sits in the tub.

At least I've got tang blackberry, tropical punch, k peach, k guava, and melon blend on the way.

Dude!  I have noticed the same with my Rasp and a lil with the Blueberry.  I, too, was thinking the tupperware.  But it's been fine for the other brands and flavors, so IDK.  I'm about to smoke some Mizo Orange that has been in the tupperware for a few weeks now to see how that is.  So far, it's been smoking great!  I'm thinking it's just rasp and blue.

Mizo orange has never given me a problem. Like I said every mizo flavor has been perfect, just like og, barely ever needs acclimation, it is only with blueberry and raspberry. Blueberry was hell for me 100% of the time, but as I said raspberry just gets worse and worse the longer it is in the tupperware. First couple bowls are AWESOME, then boom ... down hill we go.

Now the switching of the tupperware seems less convincing since you are experiencing the same. What kind of tupperware are you using? Maybe the raspberry and blueberry have a funny reaction to that specific type of tupperware, lets hope you are using the same kind I am, then maybe we will be onto something.

I am becoming more and more convinced that it isn't acclimation issues and just something funky going on with the rasp/blueberry for us, NO ONE else complains about them. Most rave about them ...  sad face

I'll have to look later to see what I'm using, I know I bought it from walmart though with a blue lid.  What's weird is you are in the north, I'm in the south.  Though we are both on the east coast so maybe it has something to do with the humidity or the weird weather we've been having.

Yeah possibly. Summer to fall is always a messy transition for us. Same for you? Dry one day then muggy humid and rain for two days then hot and sunny and humid then dry bla bla blaaaah!

With us in the peak hurricane season, things are all over the place, especially with humidity.  We'll have to see what fall brings.  That's when I bought all my blueberry last year and LOVED it.

yeah, always had issues with blueberry but only experimented with it this summer, don't remember rasp ever causing me issues but not sure if I smoked it around this time last year. Fall can't come soon enough, it is my favorite season for sure, winter is a close second.

After reading the topic, and being in a very humid climate in the summer when it gets hot here in Chicago, it's a dew point issue. I've noticed with some of my nak berry flavors such as raspberry and blueberry I've had the same problem, I also keep my shisha in my basement with a dehumidifer, but even with that running once it gets very nasty outside, I think the water content of a dew point over 70 is what starts to effect it. I know there was one day earlier in the summer here where the dew point was at 78 before we got hit with a huge storm, and my mizo blueberry tasted horrible, I really didnt want to say humidity in this because it's humid here almost all the time except for the winter but the dew point right before it starts to storm is I think what does it with multiple weather changes during a day.
