Shika Hookahs

Recommended Posts

Just saw some of the new v2 Shika line and I must say, the take on the old AF solid, especially the oxidized one, looks sexy as hell. My friend in Columbus got one and I'm going Monday to try it out. Anyone else see these or try them? Looks like a promising Egyptian line to give KM a run for their money.

The best pics and videos I've seen are from a banned vendor :-\

Yea i just checked them out... They really ripped off the AF large Solid.... But the etchings aren't nearly as percise and the the tray is shaky /  of those lazy egyotian style trays and there is no base tray other than that it's a complete copy cat out of the AF Large Solid. If there are copy right law's then all fakher and whoever their contractors were ie Nawras should have the right to sue the F out of shika.... lol but granted They do look better than KM's KM makes solid pipes but as of late they're slacking off. Both Shika and Farida are much more appealing egyptian options imo lol Still the way shika copied those solids its almost like they want to call them out. Its just something dirty! lol No doubt in my mind they're trying to make a statement and piss off Syrian contractors / AF/ Nawras lol

You do know that AF copied their look from another Syrian model? So if anything it's a copy of a copy :)

I don't think AF really copied anyone, I just think they made the pipe for AF.

From what I understand, Al Nawras Company made the Al Fakher pipes. At least I know they made the first generation ones, as it is nearly identical to my brass Nawras Spear. Regardless, copyright and trademark laws are not as abundant over in the Middle East as they are here, and they all copy each other anyway.

That Origional Look was by Nawras Then AF liked it so much they commissioned Nawras to make the 1st ever batch of AF pipes they made them 2 toned. Also Many generic syrian brands copied that nawras and eventually when Nawras stopped making pipes for AF they found generic producers to keep making those. Technically that style was invented by Nawras but either way it is Syrian and SHika really ripped them off. Either way i have a base tray, so maybe If they ever get cheaper or another vendor gets them ill look into it.

Well, from what I've heard Shika really loves Nawras hookahs and wanted to honor their Syrian style, since they are arguably the best Syrian you can find. I see no maladies coming from Shika using the style...there are slight differences in the engraving patterns but the shape is similar if not exactly the same. The oxidized Suryo model is the one I really love, since it take something familiar and kind of reinvents it a bit. I just ordered me a v2 Suryo so I'll have my own pics to put up soon :)

Sybian, you sure do know a lot about the history of Al Nawras and Syrian hookahs in general... Mind providing some sources for this information?

Well a lot of what i said is common knowledge and a lot of Al Nawras History was on their site back when it was still up. ALso if you look at the 1st Gen AF hookahs and the Nawras you can tell they were made by Nawras because Nawras has 1 unique signature about them. The purge valves. Rumor is the nawras factory closed down during all the syrian civil war chaos. However certain vendors advertised fake syrian pipes as "new nawras"  Also i wasn't always knowledgeable on Syrians i actually started doing research since i 1st got into them. I used to be obsessed lol

Chrees, you have a lot of knowledge about Syrian pipes yourself, perhaps more knowledge about them than i do... Most of my sources for this was honestly all the forums i was on. Truthfully If you want a lecture on syrian hookahs im not as qualified as some of the other people on here. Adam seemingly has the greatest knowledge of Syrian pipes as do some of the other vast collectors. I only know some of the history.

I do have a lot of so-called knowledge on Syrians, but I do not pass it off as fact. I always try to be sure to let folks know that what I'm telling them may or may not be the truth, as it's really just all hearsay. :) A lot of what I know has come from folks who have actually BEEN to Syria, however, so it's more likely to be legit than not. That is, if they aren't full of shit. ;) Now, as for Nawras having a unique distinguishing factor with their hose port, I gotta call BS on that one. If you had looked at their pipes when their site was still up (which I am quite familiar with), you'd have seen that they made a wide variety of styles of hookahs (and hose ports). In reality there are only a handful of models that one can say are for sure made by Al Nawras Company. The rest is just speculation at best.

To be fair Chris, he said a purge valve not a hose port :-)

lol indeed... The hose port could be anything anyone can spot any nawras by the Purge Valves that is what give them away All Nawras iv'e seen have this particular style of purge. That being said these AF look-Alike Shikas seem to be heavy solid built pipes and now 5 star has em! Have at it people! I'm gonna have to wait till my financial situation changes then I will have my own AF style SHika :-)

I think the ones 5 star has are the v1s which are not as solid and have been known to have messy welds

But they could be v2s which are very clean. I haven't looked closely at 5star's collection but I will now
