focuz
So I have partnered up with a few importers in the US as well as have all the site and marketing figured out, and I know we can definitely sell the pipes and accessories but as far as the actual tobacco that scares me... I heard in Michigan anyways the state will randomly fine you with selling to minors just because they know that you don't physically see the person ordering the product and they can just say a child had stole their parents credit card. So I need some help with age verification processes that might be able to hold in court as well as a merchant account that accepts tobacco sales for online processing. (Preferably a merchant account with strong age verification built in, but I'm pretty sure that would be to good to be true) does anyone know which verification process is used by sites like hooka-shisha? I know they want your ID for offline transactions but not sure about online
Fatalshizot
This was discussed in a previous thread ( over the hookah-shisha age verification) but this should answer your question. "The options are take a picture of yourself and your ID and email it to them or have it sent UPS signature required where the UPS guy will ask for signature/ID. focuz
I did search and see alittle on ID's but was hoping for another sure fire method. It looks like just using UPS signature ID is the way to go then. Thanks for the info, Any decent merchant accounts that accept funds for tobaco Edited July 23, 2013 by focuz
Skoozle
How about "by placing an order on this website, you attest that you are of legal smoking age" Make them check a box before they can complete the order.
mushrat
No it isn't. Stay on topic folks. I would just look at whatever system the big online vendors are using and go with that. As for age verification, if the state decides to fine you, then I would ask to see which person you sold it to, I don't think it will hold up without an actual documented offense. Then you sue the under age buyer's parents for damages. :) But i think most places just see the possibility as part of doing business.
