New Hookah And New Member

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I am new to the forum and a fairly new shisha smoker. I wanted to stop by and say hi but also see if anyone can tell me a little bit about my hookah... If possible. The person I bought it from said it was a Silver Syrian. It smokes great and I love it so far except for the rusted in ball bearing. :'( I'll attach a picture so you can have a look. Its the one on the left with the orange tint to the glass.

Thanks in advance.

Definitely Syrian. I have one similar, the one in this link...

http://www.thehookah.com/nour-screw-on-syrian-hookah-27-inch.html

Syrians are great pipes, I couldn't tell you a brand name for yours, but even generic Syrians tend to be of good quality.
The only issue I've had with mine is the threading where the base and stem screw together leaks a tad.

Either way, it's a beautiful pipe!

The yellowing on the glass should be cleanable too. With a base brush and some good scrubbing.

Also using denture tabs has been recommended and works great from what I  hear! :D

Ya those screw in Syrians are ok from what ive heard or scene The traditional non screw on Syrians seem to be more reliable and tend not to leak but If yours don leak and smoke fine than your set. Syrian pipes are very good quality and tend to have nice etchings that my friend is something very good to start from. I started from a shitty Chinese pipe hen got into Egyptians then last but not least got into Syrian pipes lol

Thanks everyone. The orange tint is actually the design. I want to try the torch idea to get the rusted ball bearing out but I am afraid of damaging the exterior of the pipe. I have tried soaking it in vinegar overnight and it did clean the rust out but it did nothing to get the ball out. :/

Thanks

Your best bet is to use 1 of those metal shish kebob sticks or a long metal pick to push it out from hole up through the purge port. the toss it and just use any bibi/ ball bearing they cost a couple pennies lol anyway.

good luck.

Up through the hole? It doesn't unscrew anywhere from what I can see. There are a few holes under the chamber but i dont see how to get something in there to push the ball up.

yeah, best bet is to get something in there. a semi flexible metal rod or something (coathanger, maybe?) that you can get up through the little hoes on the bottom of the chamber up through the purge.

other than that, maybe try to get something up underneath it from the purge cap end?

It's either a Syrian or the Chinese copy of it... Damn Chinese copy everything these days. I am unsure of how to tell the difference. Regardless, keep an eye out on air leaks around the threading, like Nate mentioned. Any time you have something that screws apart on a hookah, it's potential for an air leak. Oh, and welcome to the forum. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to ask. We are a very friendly community who always has each other's back. :)

Glad it worked out in the end. With the torch you don't have to get it red hot, you just want the outer part of the valve to expand a little because it is thinner and heats up faster than the ball.  Then little sideways tap on the ball. The again coke will eat steel, enamel, and just abut anything else made by man. :)

I think it's actually Syrian. Just because the glass looks almost EXACTLY like mine

If you are currently living in Korea, guessed by your profile says Daegu, share me where you get some hookah stuffs in Korea. when i lived in Korea i didn't smoke hookah at that time i was underage and a hookah wasn't popular at all in Korea. when i visit Korea, i'm going to hookah bars in Gangnam for smoking.
