DarthHookah
is it just me, or does HH shisha have to cook hotter? normally, i can get a good smoke for a long time with just two 3 kings coals, but with HH, i have to throw on a third just to get a noticable cloud.i use a screen, maybe thats my problem. i just hate tearing off foil, such a hassle. azcoyote
High "residual" water may be an issue. Tang suggested this in one of my threads. I started my test of their kiwi with a 1.5" finger that was blazing hot. Even used windscreen. The mass of shisha was only about 7g. Huffed and puffed for ten minutes - almost nothing. It only took off after I added more heat, another .5" of finger coal. If may have taken off slowly without that, becuase I probably was just at the point where the water was gone. The extra heat really helped.
wufabufa
i've used a standard brown egyption clay bowl and gotten nice clouds of thick smoke with one 33mm 3 king coal. if i'm using japanese coals, i use 2 and it heats up fine. my friend had close to 10 HH flavors and he still has some left so we've had plenty of time to figure out the heat management. Caro
I hate metal screens. Foil works 10X better.
KiKaL
I've always used 2 charcoals and a metal screen with my Hookah Hookah tobbaco with no problems. Oh and this was with the standard Mya Bowl thats comes with Mya's.
Inanna
the metal screen leaves gaps between the bowl and the metal. It let's heat escape. If you use foil, you can get a good smoke with one coal.

Caro
even if you bend the tabs, it leaves tiny gaps. The smoke's not as good. Taking the 30 seconds to rip the foil is definitely worth it.
mushrat
Depends on your bowl, my screen fits perfectly into my Mya bowl. It doesn't sag when I ash or change coals causing my coals/foil to touch my shisha, this is especially nice as sometimes i only pack half a bowl if im by myself or don't have a lot of time..or a small sample. But look out when it burns..it'll leave a smell and taste behind that will linger for many smokes to come...when the flavour starts to die...QUIT! azcoyote
Excellent advice. If this product contains any honey, why doesn't it carmelize and stick to the foil like other brands. These charred carmelized sugars contain tiny air bubbles that actually insulate the shisha below and reduce the possibily to it reaching the point of combustion. That's my theory anyhow. The air flow is just sucked through the bottom. The fluid mechanics of the situation dictate that it will not matter. If it did, the new phunnel bowl wouldn't work at all.
