Making My Own Hookah From A Liquor Bottle - Problem: Air Valve Thingy

Recommended Posts

Hi! I'm making my own hookah from a liquor bottle, probably patron or Jack Daniels. But I have a bit of a problem here. The air valve. You know, that thing on the opposite side of the hose halve in the stem? I don't know where to find that. Is that really necessary to produce good smoke? I've only asked a single person and he told me that it's not necessary. He also called it a Purge Valve. He said the only purpose of that valve is when the smoke gets too harsh, and you blow it, that's where the harsh smoke exits.

It that's the case, then I can like make 2 holes for my hose, and just plug it in when im not using? I've never really gotten in a situation where I need 2 hoses but hey, having options are good, right?

Also, any tips for a first time hookah maker like me? Thanks in advance!

you dont need the purge, if you make 2 hose holes make sure you got a good seal at all times when one is unplugged, dont know what materials you intend on using but keep in mind the temperatures that the materials have to take up near the top of the bowl, any plastics you use should be food grade.

Thank you very much for that confirmation and for the tip! :)
