azcoyote
I am looking for several people who are willing to write reviews on free hookah stuff. If you are interested please contact me at ads@clashofculture.com and I will provide you with more information. Thanks! Melissa www.clashofculture.com
This website does nothing to improve your credibility. It is empty, probably just like your promises. Melissa, the burnden of proof falls on you now. Don't be afraid of sending out free stuff to people who posted reviews on this forum. There is your writing sample, if that's what you are after. But most folks around here are..... skeptical of that
c4r80n
OK WTF!? Like bleeding heart said, anybody try acutally talking to someone? As a graphic designer I have a contract where they pay half up front before i even touch the project. I should expect the same from such a company. But then...there is their absolute shit of a website. Or lack there of. And then the same IP for Elite Hookah????? *SLAMS THE SHENANIGANS BUTTON* At first I felt we were being paranoid, and yeah, why not just write a review, worst thing that happends... is nothing. But why ask for random reviews, on what, anything? Why not hire actual writers? Maybe because they actaully make a decent living instead of earning "free whatever we send you" crap. They're a website/magazine thats just starting up. Why are you so hasty to oust them as scammers/dishonest people/ etc. This forum REALLY needs to chiggity-check itself before it wrecks itself with paranoid finger-pointing. And whats the worst that can happen? They can steal your review (oh no! precious reviews!) and put it on their magazine without paying you with money/products. Big whoop. If you think the fish stinks, don't eat it.
c4r80n
first of all...a small time vendor can't just start a magazine. all i'm fighting for is protection from the waste of time and energy. Like I said before, I thought the same way you did...but look at all the facts. and you don't know what you are going to "review" next after your two fathom reviews on ANYTHING. Any major publication will send you the product to be reviewed FIRST and THEN you write a review using the actual product. Then you send it back unless it's relatively cheap. Then proceed with payment? Perhaps he should review shisha first and send out samples, then can set up a loyalty base of writers.
Lukasa
Maybe they want to see whether the writers are worth sending product to, before they actually do. It makes sense to me. Why send shisha to some bum who can't write worth a damn?

And what better way to get positive reviews than to dangle swag in your face. How can you write an honest burner of a review in those circumstances. You got to know it will never see the light of day, nor will your efforts get you any freebies. If it was me, I'd go to prospective advertisers sell them on our "viral marketing campaign" They provide lots of free stuff, it get's passed around, we think how generous they are, buz buz buz, people write reviews and the 'zine gets ad contracts. Ka-ching. They can choose the reviews they want to support their ad campaign and toss the rest. They don't have to be objective. By being so tight-fisted with the swag, it creates the opposite effect. If you want abundance, give abundantly. It will always come back to you. MN Hookah
They could be using some of them for the reviews they have on their site for each product, I know the button for it is broken, but still there, just a thought!

hookah~rob~
ok guys, i would like to say that this whole situation has in fact made me very angry as an amature journalist as well as a english student. I fould out about the magazine idea from elite a wile back and he referred me to this melissa that has posted for the mag. i sent in my articles and they were published. The issue that i had was the fact that they butchered the articles that i had written and basically made them sound highly unprofessional and frankly a little retarded. There are few other threads on this around here. They promised all of us something and no one to my knowledge has been sent anything for writing their reviews. i know that i have not recieved anything for writing the reviews but thats ok. thanks only to the generosity of tangiers was i able to write the reviews. again tangiers thanks for the samples and the bowl. all in all i think the whole situation is just one big screw up. does anyone else have any updates on this whole thing. i am a little interested.
