Stomachaches?

Recommended Posts

Hey,I've read a lot about people getting headaches when smoking but I always seem to get a stomachache after to some degree. Is this normal? Today's was particularly bad and was bad enough to almost discourage me from ever smoking again. Took and bath and feel fine now. But at the time it was...bad.Thanks.

Hmmm, thats odd. I've only gotten headaches from doing hookah and thats pretty much when i make a smokestack outta myself. I personally haven't had stomach aches yet and even headaches are a rarity for me as well. I would definitaly say eat before you smoke and take it easy on the hose.  Which coals are you using Battlepope? Also are you letting the coals fully ignite and get a little white around the outsides before putting it onto the bowl? I know that a few people have had bad sessions because of the coals not being fully lit. Hope you feel better man!

Thanks for the kinds words guys. I always eat and drink a lot now after reading about the headaches that people would get so thankfully I've never gotten a really bad headache. But yeah, even on a full stomach I'll get stomachaches. A lot of the times its not that bad, but some days its horrible. Were using Roland Quicklights and some naturals. I think that were lighting them most of the way before we put them on but I'll make sure to next time. It's gotten to the point where if I even smell shisha I get sick to my stomach. It's safe to say I'm going to at least take a break until the weekend.

Yeah pope I know exactly what you mean, It happened to me with Cigars. It's actually mild nicotine poisoning, and you probably smoked alot right? Right. I cant even smell a cigar now without feeling gross. Just dont smoke for a while. Hopefully it'll pass. Next tiem you smoke take it easy, and like talk to someone so you dont smoke as much.
Battlepope,  the next time you grab some quicklites,  i would highly suggest using 3kings.  I've found that out of all the quicklites that i've tried,  i've liked them the best.  No odd tastes, and they are very consistent.
And they don't 'splode either ;)

I hope it passes, if not...I don't know. It's pretty bad now, can't even get near shisha.

Yeah, I've gotten stomachaches as well. Just take a break for a couple of days, and take it easy the next time you smoke. A different brand of coals could also help to alleviate the problem. This is from just way too much smoking though, just take it easy for a bit. Hope you feel better man.

Its part the nicotine and part the coals.I have a whole box of Rolland Quicklights and I HATE THEM. I've gotten an upset stomach a dozen times, and when using Japanese Easylights it doesn't happen.

I have felt nausea and what not due to not pacing myself well and also for unknown reasons, the shisha was just hitting me hard till the point of illness. Never a stomachache though... I also found that I don't like eating while smoking but drinking something is great while smoking. Maybe smoking in a enclosed area? I know if I smoked in a cafe, I would much rather sit outside than inside mainly being because I would feel a little sick being inside. Probably from all the smoke inside from the many hookahs going on.

Dang! I eat the super, super hot wings...the smell of the sauce burns your eyes and nose near it...real hot. There's a place out here thats now a chain, called Wings N Things. I worked there when I was 14 at their second store. We used to make some seriously scary wings! You start to sweat, your mouth is puckered up, your eyes are watering. Man! I'm getting some wings.

Definitely sounds like an adverse reaction to nicotine; maybe try some washed brands? Do you smoke cigarettes or cigars? I have never had stomach problems with the hookah but I had issues a couple of times smoking a strong cigar.Hope you feel better.Matt

lol, there's a place down here that has a contest in which if you eat atleast 12 wings you get your picture put up on their wall and some apparel. I've tried these wings several times with some friends but i've never done the contest yet. They also require you to eat all the sauce on the plate as well :). The secret is to wipe off all the sauce on the wings(so you don't tear up your lips) and then eat the wings and then spoon up the sauce. The place is called "Thunder Canyon Brewery" and the wings are called "natural disasters". If i get some of these wings, i usually set aside the next day to stay home and prepare for the worst......this place probably has the hottest wings in town, and i've pretty much visited like 90% of the wing places around.

if you cant get three kings try natural coals. You can get these at any supermarket- they are a little messier and take a little more time but just throw some chunks on your range or whatever you have and put them on your bowl when they are glowing red hot. They tend to produce a cleaner and lighter smoke, but the amount of smoke remains the same, and they produce alot! the coals wont last unless you puff consistently, or have more coals ready on the range. *Edit* and roland quick lights will make you vomit no matter what your smoking, its a cheap instant coal and the glue that holds it together will make you feel queasy and sick. I had that problem when i bought some coals that werent golden or three kings.
