Just my 2p's worth :-Rather than use the 'Ultimate Combo Bowl' use a wind cover.I personally think these are the work of the devil and make the shisha too hot, too quickly. Where as a wind cover is normally bloody HUGE! and allows for air movement, whilst still allowing for heating. And can be lifted off very easily. In Regard to the burning - Have you set the foil tight accross the bowl?JD

The combo bowl- The wind cover is pretty pointless (I think) unless you smoke outside alot. But eh You should look into the Tangiers Funnel Bowl. I got mine yesterday and I LOOOOVE IT!-- Sometime I get real harsh hits for periods of time. I've heard it's because I'm burning the shisha, but sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't and I don't do anything different? --I would just suggest trying to move the coals around every so often, also keep the coals towards the outside of the bowl.-- After smoking for a while and going through two coals (one at a time) it appears that my shisha is gone. However, once I added a third coal and I could still puff, but the hits tasted bad and were not very thick. I figured this was because I was essentially smoking just the coal or smoking the used shisha. To my surprise when I dumped the clay bowl, some relatively wet and unused shisha was at the bottom. Why is this? I pack the bowl very light and I make sure the shisha is in small pieces ... not grinded but small enough. Any suggestions?---I have found that bowls usually start tasting bad *especially with lower end tobacco* before the bowl is completetly burnt up. You COULD try lifting the foil mixing the tobacco around when it starts tasting nasty, althought I have never tried it, some people do it and they say it helps.Try buying some tobacco that is a little more expensive. Layalina, Al Fahkekr, StarbuzzI don't know, these are just my sugestions. Hope they helped a little.-Erica

I never had the notion to buy one of those bowls...I'd just as soon buy the bowl and windcover seperate, so I have all my options open as far as using a screen or foil, or using a wind cover at all.I know some people that pick the burnt shisha off to continue smoking, or mix it up. Some people even advocate flipping the entire "puck" over to let the unused shisha get heated...Personally a little coal technique should fix the problem altogether I think.

Yeah, everybody says that. The reason there is generally some tobacco left unburnt at the bottom is that the juice is being sucked down and gravity's pulling it down. If we could come up with a way to make the head hand upside down and charcoal defy gravity and stick to the bowl, tobacco would all burn evenly and last 5-6 times longer. As the juice gets pulled down, the upper stuff dries out. Thats why some people swear by removing the bowl and blowing it back out. Edit: Don't be cheap! Just because that stuff looks uncooked doesn't mean it is...it is very spent. Even though the glycerine may be intact, the flavor is gone. Just throw it away...quit trying to be stingy with the tobacco, packing smaller amounts in doesn't do nothin'! Why does the whole thing have to be black and crusted to feel you got your money's worth out of the tobacco?

That seems to me like it would work pretty well.
just save your money and buy a phunnel bowl. It will increase your smoke time, and i find burns the tobacco more evenly.  and welcome to the forums :D
The bowl he linked to is more expensive than the phunnel bowl.

Holf on that combo bowl is awesome, buy it. That wind cover will trap in a lot of heat into your bowl and help burn all your tobacco thoroughly. As for putting a 3rd coal on your bowl, if you have a standard 10 or 15 gram bowl then you should only be using 1 1/2 to 2 coals. If your packing a 30 gram bowl then you probably wanan do 3 coals. I have a format of placing coals that is extremely efficent, im gonna make a thread about it in a second
Lukasa, tried many variations. One of the constraints is that the tower has to be a certain height, other wise the little pottery guy can't make it.
Ohhhh. That makes sense now that i think about it. By tower, you mean the thing with the hole in it that sticks up in the center?Haha, how little is he??
