So, these guys have been around a while. The first products of theirs that hit America were the Thunder hose (basically a wider gauge, beefed up version of nuhose/fancy hose) and a few of their bowls (typically called BR Bowls) back in the spring. They've got some new bowls out and now a couple pipes (seems like the pipes have been made for a while, but haven't hit market here until now. The pipes are all aluminum construction, with thread together sections. large diameter stem and an integral hose port similar to Regal. Seems like you can get them in a variety of colours and two different models, looks like everything is anodized on the black/colour models, so I'm curious if the inner part of the stem is coated as well. As they are thread together, you can put together multiple pipes to make a larger pipe or take out sections to make a shorter pipe.

Thoughts?

I welcome anyone new making pipes. If they are at least attempting to make a quality pipe, I see nothing wrong with it. My first pipe was a thread together (Hass thinks it's a Syrian, I really don't know), and I never had issues with leaks or breakdown of it (it's still in one piece, though I doubt I would ever smoke from it again), and if nobody is reporting that kind of stuff, they are most likely well done in that regard. Worst case scenario, you throw some teflon tape on the threads and you're good to go (you should be doing that anyways on any threads).

If they are quality, then awesome!

I have just never been a fan of that type of coating, or even coatings in general. I feel like EVENTUALLY all coatings start to wear and come off. It's just another thing that can go wrong, even with nickel plating.

Anodizing is particularly stronger than electroplating, especially on machined parts, so I have to imagine they are good quality, as far as coatings are concerned. But, I'm with you on that, coatings will ALWAYS wear off. It's not a matter of IF, but WHEN. That being said, it doesn't seem like their silver ones are coated, just bare polished aluminum. If that is the case, that would be a damn solid pipe for longevity.

One review I watched this morning noted that the King's are actually quite heavy. Not Turkish heavy, but heavy compared to most traditional pipes. I found that interesting, and says a lot about what pipes are and are not hollow, by comparison.

I was going to say if they are solid aluminum then that would be banging! But it seems like you guys came to that conclusion before me :) Hopefully they are solid aluminum and are relatively innexpensive, I wouldn't mind having one.

Low to mid $200's is what the pricing looks like for Stem only. So, not cheap, that's for sure, but certainly comparable to, say, Regal.

i like them better then regals, and the fact you can unscrew them to make it smaller / bigger is really cool

I like that too. I loved my Regal and wish I never sold it.

But my issue right now is that I can get a POTR stem for $200 or get a custom Regal stem for $250... Is the stem really worth $200 when it is just plain aluminum? I know the Regals can't change height, but that wood grain... I would love a hookah that could change height, but I feel like that plain aluminum look will get boring real quick.

Why can't anyone produce a good pipe for cheap? If the demand is there, make supply....Simple as that really. If I was in the hookah industry I'd be undercutting everyone. What I lost in 20000000000000% markup, I'd easily make up in more sales than anyone else.

Billet aluminum isn't cheap to begin with. Factor in the CNC machine usage fees, paying someone to anodize and polish the stems, and then shipping them to America.... If they were made in America, the price would be much lower, even with vendors' crazy markups.

Yeah, it's a bummer that good solid pipes cost more money, but because people will pay that much, they will keep charging that much. It's kind of a bummer because it makes these things "exclusive" instead of spreading them out into more people's hands. But I can almost guarantee that these pipes are better than "top shelf" KM's these days, and those are going for mid-high hundreds still. I'm more than happy to pay a bit more for something like this than to pick up another piss poor quality KM (I say that as someone who owns 4 KM's, two new and two old).

I didn't say that billet aluminum was cheap, all I was saying is that a good pipe can be produced and sold for much cheaper than they are.

I stay away from aluminum pipes, and anything anodized I run away from.

With all the studies linking aluminum to alzheimers, I won't even drink soda's out cans now.

I ended up picking up a Prince Of The Road and their Thunder hose. I think the POTR is now my favourite pipe. I will have to do a video review of it, because it's just awesome. There is nothing about it that I don't like, which is the first time I can say that about any of my pipes.

Since they are very similar to a Regal, I want to buy a POTR, remove the middle sections, and thread a nice piece of turned wood to stick in between the tray rest and heart.

I have been smoking exclusively out of mine since I got it. Haven't even touched another pipe. It is seriously just a fantastic pipe. My only qualm with it is that the inner stem isn't one single pipe going all the way down, that it seems to open up into the heart (tough to tell, really), so the stem brush kind of catches on it. Not a big deal, and considering that's the pipes only flaw, i'm good with it.
