Overpack Method For Kahn

Recommended Posts

ok so i searched the forum and didnt see any answers so here it goes.  i am experimenting with my packing methods, especially with nak, and am wondering.  am i crazy,

suicidal or a complete idiot noob, but is it a wise decision to use the overpack method with kahn el kahlili.  i like the flavor of kahn over zag that is a givin, am gonna mix the 2 so i can stretch it out.  and mattarios, i am getting ready to smoke some coffee/kahn mix.

Are you using foil or not? And if you are, have you added some glycerine at minimum?

When mixing it, I find just packing it as usual with regular Nakhla is fine. When on its own, the consistency and texture of Khan al Khalili and all other unflavored mu'assals doesn't lend itself to tight packing, there's really only one way to do it, which I guess would be described as "medium tight."

You can treat it more or less just like Zaghloul and you'll be fine

I agree w what Hass said.

If it is straight you pack it semi tight, just grab some and dump it in and press it down a bit. No need for glycerin, I think it tastes better as it is.

If mixing, just mix it right in and pack as you normally would.

Loony, I ask about the glycerine because I prefer to smoke it with foil, and without glycerine (I also add a bit of honey), it is VERY hard to get going.  For mixing it doesn't matter, though.

Hass, if you do khan in a phunnel packed pretty darn tight, with halves, you can get it going quite quickly. Spreading the heat out over the bowl by using halves makes all the difference in how quickly it gets going. And by using the phunnel it gives you the ability to pack it really tight without hindering the flow at all.
