mushrat
So I now work phone sales and support for a major US airline. I'm the first line of contact for domestic sales and anyone who couldn't or wouldn't talk to the computer sorting system. So I deal with things liek airports being closed for snow and ice for instance and try to find other flights. so I tell people, I'm sorry, the airport is closed due to ice, that is why your flight is cancelled we can try to fly you out tomorrow. Well, how about this other flight today? I'm sorry, the airport is closed due to weather, there are no flights getting in or out. Well, how about the 10pm it still says it has room here on priceline? Sir, The airport is closed, no matter what you see, there are no flights in or out of that airport. Well, can you try another airline? Sir, the airport is closed, there are no flights leaving or arriving at that airport today. Well, I have to get to New York, what are you going to do about it? Sir, I'm going to get you on the first flight I can when the airport re-opens. Well, thats not good enough....... Endless varieties of this conversation. No wonder I am on a script for xanax. :)
Chreees
Blah. Sounds like a lot of what I had to go through when I worked in the hotel business. And now I work as a graphic designer for a free regional classifieds newspaper, and I constantly have people call in screaming "WHERE'S MY AD?!" "Sir, what category is your ad under? Miscellaneous? Look on page 3- you'll find your ad under the Miscellaneous column..." Sucks but we'll always have to deal with dummies.

Coleman
Yeah I really hate actually dealing with customers. My last job some customer started yelling at me for the line moving slowly on the first day. My boss ended up telling me that dude came in quite often, so I didn't understand how he didn't already understand that we always had a line out the door. We were a really small restaurant and we have 1200-1400 people through our doors every day. (We could seat maybe 65 at a time) Some people are just real douche nozzles. Coleman
That's why I just ignored them after a while. "Oh you want chicken and asparagus? Here's steak and fries fuck out my face". And that's how you get fired kids. (I'm kidding by the way) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rani
I've always been laughed at when I've said.............."This job would be a piece of cake if it weren't for the goddamned customers!" The title of one of my favorite books is "People are stupid, and I can prove it!" I've been customer service manager for a large plumbing service company. And people are definitely stupid. But every now and then you'll get someone who makes it worth while. The day after Thanksgiving several years ago I had a customer that was worth it. The day after is the absolutely busiest day of the year for plumbing services. Everybody works it and nobody gets the day off no matter what. After a long rainy day of delayed calls and irate stupid customers I pick up the phone to a very nice lady who said..........." You know all those stupid people who tried to stuff the left over turkey carcass down the disposal? Add me to the list!" I started laughing, I couldn't help it. She was great, said whenever we got to her would be just fine. My guy ended up there at like 9:00 at night and she tipped him and handed him a plate of pie to go. Customers like her are far and few between but they make it worthwhile. 'Rani
vendetta_revived
I hear ya Mush! Working in customer service tends to slowly suck the happiness out of you! Most people I talk to are reasonable actually, but then every now and then, you find a stupid jackass who seems to have dialled the number only to fight and they are enough to put me on the edge. DrSmokes
I feel for ya. When working with patients, I tell them exactly what they need to do and what they need to avoid doing. I tell them if they do something on the avoided list, "this" will happen. I've had patients call me after hours or on my off days saying they feel like shit, what did I do to them, etc. I ask them what they have done over the last day or 2, what they ate, etc. EVERY SINGLE TIME, they did something on my "avoid" list and they have the exact reaction that I told them they would have, yet I get the blame. Stupid.........
CzechMate
i Was a bartender for 5 years and worked in the hospitality industry for over 10 years. I hate customers. It took me a long time to not have their bullshit ruin my day. Often i would go to work in the best mood, and 15 min later be mad at the world. I just didnt understand what was wrong with these people. I learned alot and the experience was worth it. Its never fun having to cut someone off, they always flip out. I would constantly see people crying, yelling, having affairs. It was eye opening.
