Hi guys, some of you may of seen my first thread yesterday about my find of the hookah in a charity shop. Well it's my first I've owned and don't know much about quality coals or smoke so could you recommend the best stuff to get? I got some SoeX coals and smoke from a local smoking shop, tastes good but I'm sure there's better out there!

Check out our reviews section to see what folks like when it comes to hookah tobacco: http://www.hookahforum.com/forum/129-new-and-improved-tobacco-reviews/

My personal favorites though are Tangiers and Nakhla. :)

As for coals, I find Coconaras to suit me best. But a lot of folks have been liking CocoUltimates and I want to try those next. Either way I recommend a good coconut natural coal. Avoid quicklights because they often lead to headaches due to the materials used to allow them to light, and they just smell god awful. Here are the reviews for coals: http://www.hookahforum.com/forum/27-coals/

Best of luck man! Keep us updated!

I definitely agree with Chreees on the tobacco recommendations. I like Nakhla and use coconaras and coco ultimates. Both coals are great. Go the natural coal route and from there choose a tobacco you prefer. AF is popular and so is SB although SB isn't that great for the price. Nak is the best bang for your buck imo

Nak hands down. Especially if you are a newby. I haven't found many AF that I can smoke day in and day out...they are a bit strong tasting for my likes. Fantasia and Fumari have good flavors but then you are paying a lot more (about double compared to Nak).

That's why I've been getting headaches with my smoking sessions then! Haha I'm a newbie also and my first hookah came with quicklights; I wasn't sure if it was the charcoal or free shisha samples it came with that were the culprit lol

Quicklight charcoal gives me a headache (not to mention they affect the taste in a very unpleasant way) - Switching to natural/coconut coals will arguably be the single biggest improvement you can make
