Suggestions For An Old Timer?

Recommended Posts

Hello HOOKAHFORUM!! I am a relatively old member who quit smoking regularly for the past 3 years, but I'm back in the game. Couldn't resist after visiting a lounge two days ago, had to pick myself up a mya QT. I went to my usual store, and noticed there are an INSANE number of new flavors out there for Al Fakher, along with Nahkla (Mizo/Regular). I was wondering if anyone could let me know what their favorite flavors are in regards to those two brands, can't wait to try the new stuff! Also, I'm thinking about getting a phunnel bowl again, worth it (I usually only smoke by myself)? Great to be back guys, can't wait to hear your feedback.

What kind of flavors are you looking for?

MIX LINE:

I'll give you the run down of what I think are the highlights of Nakhla.

Ice Apple is a great apple flavor with a cooling effect and maybe a little mint Great with Cinnamon

Orange Peach is a really sweet orange with some peach mixed in.  Really good flavor but may be too sweet. It's the sweetest flavor I've ever had.

Ice Lemon Mint is a lemon mint flavor but this one is pretty sour.  I usually end up mixing it with Orange peach to balance them both out.

MIZO LINE:

Blueberry is a really good flavor and strong.

Lychee is taste exactly like the fruit if you know what that taste like.  If not, it's really hard to describe.  This is a lighter flavor.

Peach  One of my favorites.  Doesn't really taste like peach but taste good too.  It's a heavy, hearty smoke.

Lemon.  Just a good solid lemon, not too sweet, not to sour.  Mixes well with regular Nak Mint (I haven't tried the Mizo Mint).

Watermelon this one is ok but it king of gives you a tickle in your throat even if you just smell the tobacco, not even smoking it.   I hope that goes away after it's been open a while but that is yet to be seen.

If you want to kick any of that up a notch; get some Khan El Khalilly to mix in.  It'll put hair on your chest.

That's about all I've tried from the MIZO and MIX lines... Not as much as I thought I had tried, guess I better get back to trying flavors.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't worry about a phunnel bowl unless I was going to be smoking Tangiers.  I tried Nak Mizo out of a phunnel exactly once and then went back to Egyptian bowls for Nak. I get the biggest ones I can find but a regular clay Egyptian bowl full of Nakhla is an excellent smoke.

Mizo Peach and Mizo Blueberry are my favourites from that line, in the Mix line I like Cosmopolitan and Shisha On The Beach. If you like coconut, Shisha On The Beach hits that mark pretty well.

I get great results with both phunnels and turkish/egyptian bowls for nak, but there is a different technique to each. I don't think it's rocket science to pack a phunnel, but some people seem to have problems with it. That being said, I think for drier tobacco's, nothing beats an unglazed turkish bowl.

Welcome back, frost! I actually remember you from way back when, lol. You were active when I first joined. Anyway, go with any of the Nakhla. Mizo flavors. Blueberry, Lychee, Guava, Watermelon, Raspberry happen to be some of my favorites. I quit smoking Al Fakher because I realized Nakhla was way better for less price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

welcome back! Mizo stuff is great, haven't had all of them yet but Lychee is definitely worth a go. As for AF i only smoke peach, mango, guava..which are great but word around here is AF taste has slipped over the years with certain flavors( i see grape thrown around a lot). Starbuzz Lebanese bombshell is worth a try if you like non-sweet flavors.

Tangiers is on the up and up. More lines are out now, Birquq is great and lucid is a good way to go. Time to get smokin.. ;)

AF is crap city, Nakhla is generally good all around, with a few knockouts in the Mizo line as far as newer stuff goes - watermelon is amazing, guava is the most accurate tobacco flavor ever created (much more so than lychee), and the guava/watermelon mix is killlllerrrrrr.

Oh yeah, how could I forget the Mix line? Some great flavors there, too! So far I've tried Orange Peach and Ice Lemon Mint and both are EPIC! I just got Ice Grape Mint in and Ice Apple is on the way, so I'll be able to tell you about those soon as well.

All in all, you can't go wrong with Nakhla. Their Mizo and Mix lines are just great. If you like a heavier buzz and flavor with more tobacco notes, go with their original line of flavors.

Agreed I use my turk bowls for og nak and desi murli and it works extremely well.

Skooz - try airing it out. The other day I tried airing it out for like 45 minutes to see if I could tone down the cooling (I don't like how the cooling mixes with the orange/peach blend in this flavor) and it was at least half as sweet as normal and the cooling was close to non existent.

It's been opened for a while but in a pretty decent plastic container.  I would guess that it's been aired out for at least 45 min. total since I got it but never 45 min straight.  Don't know if that makes a difference.  I haven't smoked it in a while but I'll give it a whirl soon and air it out some more.

Even if it's been opened but in a tupperware IMHO that isn't the same as airing it out, at least with Nakhla. I feel it actually builds its aroma back up being in a tupperware even if it's been a while, I guess it would depend on how long it has been in the tupperware.

I would have to second airing out flavors. Mattar recommending me doing this with Nakhla Cinnamon, which turned what I thought was an unsmokable flavor into something actually enjoyable.

I think the Pico bowl is a good option as it works well with everything and looks quite nice, too. Plus if you get into smoking Tangiers you will already have a bowl.
