Tangiers Bowls

Recommended Posts

Whats the difference between the tangiers bowls? Like the Mini, 7, Pico, small and the difference between the 2011 smalls and the newer smalls. Are there any before 2011?

Tangiers bowls date back to around 2006, maybe a bit earlier. Not sure when Eric of Tangiers made the design, but around that time is when they started being discussed online at least, I believe. I'm sure an older member would know for certain. Anyway the only real difference is size, or how much tobacco it holds. My personal preference is the Mini, which holds about 25g. Pico holds less than that. Small holds a bit more. Then Medium and Large. They are often classified by what years they were made because they have varied in size over the years. Eric has recently come up with a sizing chart to classify his bowls. I'll try to find it for you, or someone else can post it if I don't soon...

EDIT: Here it is:

#0/Large Bowl
#2/Medium Bowl
#4/Small Bowl
#6/Old Mini Bowl
#8/Pico Bowl

Hope this helps!

"There is a new designation system for Tangiers bowls. It is along the rationale of a how electrical wiring is sized. The sizes get smaller as the numbers get larger.

New Size Designation/Old Size Description

#0/Large Bowl
#2/Medium Bowl
#4/Small Bowl
#6/Old Mini Bowl
#8/Pico Bowl

If a bowl was described as a "#5", you would know it is somewhere between a small and an old mini. A #1 Bowl would be either a small "Large Bowl" or a large "Medium Bowl"."

That was from Eric himself, i own a 7ico,8pico,2011 small phunnel and 2013 small. The size difference between the '11 and '13 is huge probably 20g or so.

So I am so use to all glass bowls for my fumo and Roi hookahs... I smoke alone sometimes with my girlfriend... I got myself party bowls but would love to get a bowl that would last me about an hour... What would you recommend? I was thinking a mini or pick but small?

Pico or Small. You'd likely never use anything bigger. Hell I can make my Mini last for hours. Longest session out of it was 8 hours with Tangiers Lucid Indian Summer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's incredible! How big is a tang mini compared to a 2013 small? what is the size diff can you yield similar results in a small?

A tang mini should hold around 25g of tangiers. A small would be a bigger bowl holding around 30-35g. A small could go 10-12back hours with a good strong flavor. But who would want to do that?

Yeah, you could easily get similar results with any other Tangiers bowl. All about how slowly you heat up the bowl, and making sure to never apply too much heat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Completely agree. When I very slowly, like over the course of 20-25 min heat up tangiers I can smoke it for quite a while and there is still a lot of good tobacco left. As I have said already my only gripe is with noir the type of tobacco used does give off an unenjoyable tobacco taste and I love the taste of tobacco so lately I only smoke until the flavoring simmers down, then I dump it unfortunately. With that said, if anyone knows flavors that doesn't bring out the tobacco undertone, pm me what flavors and I will be forever grateful.
