Meals And Hookah

Recommended Posts

As I am sure that we all know, it is not wise to have a hookah session of an empty stomach and food and hookah have been paired together for a long time. This brings to my question to you all, do you have any preferences of food that you like to mix with hookah? Perhaps a special flavor of shisha? The other day I brought home some Afghani take out and enjoyed it with some lemon shisha. Other than that, I like to mix a nice smoke session with savory foods.

What about you guys?

I know many on the forums enjoy it but I personally hate eating and smoking. I like to eat, and then with a nice full stomach have a session after I eat.

I'm pretty much like this, but I don't like to get stuffed before I smoke.  Just a reasonable meal so I'm not hungry.  I do prefer it to be sort of fresh, light food; not heavy and greasy.

Beer on the other hand goes great with hookah.  I did Orange (maybe Mizo) tobacco with Blue Moon once which was pretty good.  Mizo Blue Berry goes well with a light, crisp Lager.

Agree with John and Ashley, smoking while eating sucks, but postprandial nargling is where it's at.

Beer is welcome alongside smoking, as are cocktails and tea. Coffee much less so, though that doesn't stop Arabs everywhere from drinking coffee while smoking.

Also:

1. Mmmmm Afghan fooooood. Whatcha have?

2. No surprises here, nargile after Lebanese food is basically a must.

Snack food if it's food related. Too much work to eat a full meal and smoke enough in between to keep the session good.

Otherwise just coffee, mixed drinks or gatorade.... I am like addicted to gatorade now it's weird.

+1 on the snacks. I'll eat some bread or a small bowl of cereal when I start feeling light headed, but I can't eat a full meal before I smoke. I'm always cooking Mexican food, definitely doesn't mix with smoking well.

I suppose the Lebanese beer snacks of salty mixed nuts, carrots in lemon juice, and other seed-like items is acceptable while smoking, but that's about it. Sometimes dessert works too, I suppose.

I have to agree with you there. Eating while you smoke just makes the food less desirable and the smoke itself less enjoyable. I like either smoking way before i eat or on a full stomach!

Haha, this is quite a surprising turn out of opinions. Personally, I like to compliment the food because I feel each can supplement the others, if done right. I had Karahi the other night and paired it with the lemon shisha. I guess it's the foodie part of my that likes to mix my two loves.

I prefer a meal and then a smoke, but for certain tobacco flavors I've found there are a few things I like to eat while smoking. For some reason, I enjoy pizza with extra cheese and salt whenever I'm smoking overly sweet Starbuzz or Fantasia flavors. While neither of those brands are my first choice, its what I end up smoking pretty often because of my friends. I need more hookah-educated friends. :/

Other than that example, the only time I eat while smoking is if it is snack food. I'm partial to salsa/guac/sour cream/bean dip and chips, or a platter of crackers and various cheeses, meats, and pickles/olives. Lol. I think I eat too much. I love food.
