Denture Tabs

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to say, I know this isnt new information, but I am so impressed with denture tabs and how well they clean my vases.

I saw the tip here on the forums but was always too lazy to go out and buy a box. Tonight I decided, why not, and went out and spent a whopping $4.80 on a box of 90 count generic denture cleaning tabs.

My vases have had a decent amount of build up over the 3 years or so of use. I clean them often, but there would always be stains I could not get out. I feel like I have tried everything, from rubbing alcohol + salt, baking powder, lime juice, rubbing alcohol soak + rice, 420 cleaner, but nothing seemed to get the really bad stuff off.

But yea, as you guys know, nothing new. But I am shocked with how easy it was with just dropping in a few tabs and lettin' em soak..... Maybe I'll inspire someone new on here, or someone who hasn't seen the tip previously.

Denture tabs clean up very well!

I bought an older boho that was neglected big time a few weeks ago, had so much build up you would not believe. I too some rock salt and poured about an inch's worth into the vase, added a little water and shook it around. That literally cleaned it completely in about 2 minutes. It's abrasive enough to clean gunk and whatnot, but won't hurt the vase itself.

Not really related, but another cleaning method nonetheless!

Yeah!

I have tried the salt + rubbing alcohol OR salt + water, but there was always that ring-stain around where the water-line would be.

Mush suggested it a while back.

Don't get the whitening or the quick clean ones. Standard Denture Tabs work best. Extra Strength if they got them.

I absolutely love them, there isn't an easier or better way to gently, yet aggressively, clean those tough stains out of vases. I've been wanting find some way to apply this to soaking an entire pipe, just to see what would happen...

Glad to hear they do not harm crystal. I'm always skeptical about what I can put in the base, after my friend poured vinegar in his boho and destroyed the frosting/paint.

I have a few denture tabs in my cabinet, I will definitely be trying this tonight (and I should probably clean my retainer while I am at it!)

I have been considering doing the same! Maybe put some saran wrap on one end of the stem, stand upright, and drop 1/2 or 1/4 a tab in?

That could work. I'm more curious about what it would do to the outside of the pipe, ie, if it would remove any kind of tarnishing and whatnot.

I have some old rubber stoppers from my old 3 hose pharaoh. I would look at using a rubber stopper instead of seran wrap. Less likely to rip and spill out. If you don' t have one HD or Lowes have them by the box full of all sizes.

Ohhh, the outside would definitely be an interesting experiment. Would need a pretty big tub. lol

Could probably just drop a whole box of them into one of those big tupperware storage things? I've got one of those, I am going to put that on my to do list.

I have one as well out in my shop... Mmmm, the possibilities...
