another noob question from a veteran....

with my SS order on the way early next week it comes with 2 rolls of 3 kings quicklights. i have never used these and the search didnt show any results. my question is whats the best way to light these and how do you know how they are done? do they turn bright red like japanese coals or white like nour finger coals? i wanna give them a shot if they work well for me ill start buyin them at a local headshop they sell tons of em. thanks guys!

Light with anything that produces any form of fire known to man.

You know they're ready when the coal is red. The entire coal will glow red, then eventually coat with a grey/whiteish...err...coat.

I usually use a regular Bick lighter but occasionally use the flame from a gas stove. Once they light up, they make a nice cracking/sizzling noise; once that dies down, they are usually ready to go.

I really never have too many sparks with 3 Kings, just with a cheaper quicklite brand I've tried. Had to keep those darn things on the end of a pole after they got going. Maybe that says something for using them huh?

just any flame, i usually keep the flame on the coal about 1 minute after the lighting coat burns off

Maybe its just the shitty ass Rolland charcoals I have, but I can light em with a match.
I use a bic lighter cause I have one, but i can use a match in a pinch

You can lights a 3K with a match, dude... once you get the sparks going, just blow on it... I use one of those little butane lighters

Any small flame will light it, but I've found the best way to get them going good and quick is to place them on an electric stove. They start sparking after about 30-60 seconds and are red hot in about 90 seconds. No blowing, no waiting, no bad flavor from using a partially lit coal. And to clean up, just wipe the stove area with a towel real quick to remove the black dust.

The little butane lighter works a charm too... Use tongs, light one side, light the other, go over the black spots real quick with the lighter and bam... takes maybe 30-45 seconds max

thanks for replies guys. i never used 3 kings and the only quicklights i have used tasted so shitty it made me never wanna try any form of quicklights...ima canary man! but hey i like expiremting when it comes 2 shisha.

I use golden coals when I am going to smoke outside, when they are fully lit they don't change the taste at all.

Grill lighter for about 10 seconds or so. The whole thing will spark covering all the gunpowder. Then you're good to smoke. Hence Quick Light

being too lazy to light another canary, i sparked up one 3 kings wannabe quicklight that i got with my chinese mini. made sure it was fully lit like everybody told me to. and heck it smoked pretty damn good. after about 10 mins it started tasting like shit tho. i know it wasnt the burnt shisha because it was tangiers watermelon and that stuff does not burn in 30 mins i was smoking prior to sparking up the quicklight. not bad for a first try im sure the 3 kings will work wonders.

Sounds like just a crap brand. For the most part if you use quicklights, you want to use 3 kings. The others out there are ok, and the golden ones you get in a H-S order are fine, but 3K is the bset of the quicklights.

I just take one outside, grab my mini propane torch, light the whole coal in under 5 seconds XD and blow on it a bit to make sure its done. You can pop it on without any ash forming, but i like to blow on it and wait till it starts to turn a lil grey as some of the coal turns to ash, then you know the whole things lit and hot through out, which means the sooner youll be smoking once you pop it on XD
