Nicholae
I thought I would start a new topic. For the tips and tricks of hookah smoking. I already know of a few. Like sticking the base stem, and hose in the freezer before smokeing. Putting ice in the water for smoother hits. Then putting a bottom layer of foil with the shiny side up in the bowl and poking out the holes. Thats about all I know that will help. Is there anything else that I can try? Joseph
So you line the bottem of the bowl with foil? How does that help? I have never tried anything like that. I find heat manegmant to be the mopst important thing in getting a good smoke, and then never do any of the gimmicks.
Skimo
i was just thinking of doin that, putting foil at the bottom and poking holes where the bowls holes are then put this shisha in and put foil on top and doin what you normally do, i think it would make it easier to cook the bowl
Joseph
What would the foil accomplish?
Skimo
heated easier I would think, the bowl would be heated plus the small layer on the bottom would give it a little push I would think
nuschultz
Someone try this and let me know, I'll add it to HookahWiki
Nicholae
well the heat from the coal radiates. so it only cooks the top part mostly. and the heat that goes towards the bottom is greatly wasted heating the bowl. if you line the bottom with foil it should cut down on heat loss and provide somewhat of a more even cook or roast. Joseph
My bowl gets pretty hot all over, I doubt it would do anything, but I don't really know anything. It sounds like a worthy experiment.
OPR234
My understanding of the bottom layer of foil trick was that its meant for unglazed hookah bowls, so the juices dont get absorbed into the bare ceramic of the bowl.
Joseph
That makes sense
Skimo
Thats somthing I totally overlooked. So either way I'll have to experiment and see what happens.
Nicholae
usually when i layer the bowl with foil and smoke off of it, i find that not as much shisha is wasted. plus it helps it heat up faster.
benny
Just tried a bowl with the foil trick... Fantastic smoke! One of my better ones thus far!
DizzyGuy
It can be finiky to do the foil thing... It would be like using a metal bowl, although I have gotten it to work before. Think of an oven... Broil *top* vs cook *all over*.
nuschultz
so, general consensus on this, good idea?
Nicholae
i think its a good idea mainly because i use it. but its all upto personal preference. i believe theres less coal managment involved throughout the whole session.

EvansLight
best tip i can give aint my own, just shove the base in a bucket of ice salt water, and away you go im soon to be trying a diffrent liquid and cooling method to see if i can super chill the water, to make the smoke actually feel cool, almost like sticking your head in a freezer and breathing in maybe not that cold, but you get my point
