I, too am absolutely gay for MYA QT's

So I start setting up my 28 inch red egyptian for an afternoon smoke. The same crack has been in the base for a few months now, so when a tiny chip broke off while i was cleaning it out, I thought "no big deal, it'll hold together" . Right? Wrong. As I put the stem in I hear a *crick* *crack* *plink* *shatter* my base is broken. So my buddy and I drive to the local store to get a replacement base. Do they sell them? Hell no. Thats when I see a nice little brand new QT in its purdy lil metal cage. I bought it. 52 dollars and 43 cents. Not bad, in my opinion. What I noticed first when setting this up is that the seals between the stem and base and hose and base do not feel very tight AT all, but give impeccable air-tightness, it passed the covere the bowl with your palm test with flying colors. Also, I never knew that the base-grommet for the QT was on the OUTSIDE of the hole... strange. It also struck me as weird that i dont have access to the little ball bearing for the purge valve.

First smoke was layalina grape mixed with nakhla mandarin, the QT worked flawlessly, and the smoke was alright. I blame the MYA bowl and the nakhla for not being an amazing smoke. Next smoke will be Fumari something in a standard eqyptian bowl or the tangiers phunnel bowl.

i smoke nakhla all the time out of the qt and get clouds of awesomeness, Id blame yourself for not using enough heat.

Ahh as i say to all new converts, welcome to Le Cult De QT

As for the grommets, mine seem the opposite, well at least the base grommet. it feels like a good seal. ill admit though that the bowl grommet feels kinda funky to me, but oh well it works.

And what do you mean you don't have access to the purge valve ball bearing? I clean mine when i do a full hookah clean. You can take the purge valve apart in 2 places. one is the top half that comes off giving access to the ball bearing. the other is where the purge actually connects to the stem. Make sure your trying to unscrew from the first to get to the bearing

and yea ur just crazy, i get amaizng smoke out of nakhla all the time, its my daily smoker XD

Smoked some Fumari watermelon out of it. And it was damn good. 8)

i have never been able to get good smoke out of my qt...but my friend gets awesome smoke out of hers (and she's a newbie too) she uses golden quicklights and i use nour coals....but whenever i get thick smoke out of it, it is a tad too harsh for my taste....guess i need to try something new as far as heat management goes.
