Bowl duration question

Recommended Posts

Hello, everybody. I'm pretty new to this. Got a SS Egyptian as a present from Germany although it's just a regular Egyptian.

Anyway, I bought two bowls - tangiers funnel and a mya. I figured I'll use tangiers for the longer sessions and mya for a shorter ones (since small tangiers is not available yet).

The thing is - mya smokes forever. I've used it with japanese silver coals and smoked it for 3 1/2 hours. It just kept going and going as long as I changed the coals every so often. When I finished and looked at it, most of the shisha didn't burn other than the top layer. Is this normal?

Not that it's a particularly big problem but I just hate wasting shisha. Def don't want to do it when I only have an hour to smoke on the weekdays.

Honestly one bowl of shisha is costing you about .25 cents... haha but anyways..... What flavor were you smoking? There are certain flavors.... like mint that seem like they last forrrrrrever. At 3.5 hours on a mya bowl you must have been just smoking ash... but who knows... pictures??

It's not really about the money (hookahs are dirt cheap compared to cigars or some of my other hobbies). It's not even about waisting. I'm just wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

Anyway, I've had this result on three separate days - first with Al Amir apple that I got for free from hookahcompany and the second - tangiers peach, third - tangiers cashmir peach.

I've used 1 1/2 coals at a time - light one up, let it burn a little, add the second one, repeat. I've had thick (I think) smoke and a good (I think) flavor.

I don't think it was all ash because, like I said, there was plenty of unburned shisha left in the bowl. It was hot and didn't have as much juice but the bottom part wasn't ashed. Maybe it wasn't hot enough? But I think adding 3rd coal to mya bowl might be too much.

I would expect it to last about 1.5 but it doesn't. The smoke seems pretty thick even though I don't have a real reference point. It's thick when I put the new coals, then it's slowly getting thinner until I replace the coals. Also, the coals burn out pretty fast - I have to replace japanese silver coals after about 35 - 45min. Is this normal?
Yeah Japanese coals only last 30-45 minutes. Normal.

What is "think" smoke, Dizzy?
I have yet to see a coal that lasts longer than 45 minutes period; are there some?
