dodraugen2k
I recently bought my first shipment of shisha from tangiers. The only kind if coal I own is the nour-fingers, and so far the shisha have tasted nothing but coal. I've tried using both a single "finger" and a single finger chopped into a few pieces. Same results. Am I doing something wrong or is it just the coal that's too strong? Should I use light coal in stead? I've heard great stuff about tangiers, and it sucks to be missing out because I can't get the coal right :/

Anpu
just keep in mind that he designed Tangiers to burn at a lower temerature than other shisha so that it would last longer (I think that's the reason he gave...)
dodraugen2k
But how do you guys get it good? I'm guessing light coal would be a good alternative, such as three kings? What about japanese coal? If I'm going to buy any of those it'll take me two weeks or smth (Norway rocks, we only got nakhla shisha and nour fingers + some cheap light coal), but it should be worth it =)
Calcartman
I see all these posts about being unable to get tangiers to work properly, and I wonder what can be so difficult? Too much heat? remove some coal. I can't see why Nour fingers wouldn't work, just hang some of the coal off the edge of the bowl, or break it into smaller pieces
Anpu
IIRC, Tangiers uses Canary Japanese Coals...
Lukasa
Try with Three Kings?
Joseph
Three kings give off more heat than the same size natural coal. Just use less coal. If one finger was too much, try half a finger coal.
Guest Abide
normally i used goldens, but lately ive been loving some naturals with the phunnel. seems to mix just right for me and stay going longer
nuschultz
I believe tangiers said if using qucklights that you should use 1/2 to 1/3 of what u would use for a natural coal.
jtemes
for me tangiers worked my first time. mind u i gotta pack real full bowls for it to smoke well. ive tried most kinds of a coals and i say japanese golden canarys are the best followed by naturals. quicklites didnt work to well for me. for regular bowls (not phunnel) just pack more than u would with other types so its almost packed tite. then but the foil in make lots of good sized holes and blow through the bottom of the bowl to get a little more airflow.
