Advise on Rotator Hookahs

Recommended Posts

I bought a used six hoser from craigslist for $80. Not exactly a steal, but I've seen the new ones listing online for $199. It wobbled a bit, so I thighted up the rotator by winding a strip of cloth into the pedestal. No more wobble. The jar/stem is sealed with a large gasket which nobody keeps in stock. Mine is usable, but I wouln't buy another rotator without getting a spare gasket for the jar.

If its your first im gonna say the same thing i always say, get a standard egyptian. Just one from H-S, or maybe SS, but just a regular egyptian. Its most peoples first and for a reason. There good ones to learn on, most common, and are just plain good hookahs. With rotators, or other specialty type hookahs, you can have more problems, that are harder for a beginer than a seasoned veteran.

Still get what you want, its just my 2cents that for a first, egyptians are best. Then worry about getting a rotator or qt or what not. Oh and unless your going to have a party each time you smoke XD i suggest having a normal hookah for your personal use first, then gettin the party one. I know the one you want is only a 1 hose, but whats the point XD As i said, it still your choice, just this lurkers opinion :D

The only problem i have is that i dont really like the bases on the egyptian style hookahs on HS. If i were to go that route i'd like a base kinda like this:

http://www.myasaray.com/store/item.asp?ITE...&DEPARTMENT_ID=

Unfortunately that particular one is out of my price range...but i really like the black base...i also like smoked ones. Can you get these style bases for an egyptian? (forgive my noobie ignorance on this if its a painfully obvious answer) Thanks guys for all the input!!

Im not trying to sound like a sales person but talk to Mnhookah, he can cut you some great deals and maybe be able to get you a similar hookah thats affordable to you, just a suggestion, you couldn't lose anything by just asking right?

True, true...i'l ask em, thanks man!

This is the style base i really like, but not comes the problem of either finding a complete hookah with this style base, or finding a stem that actually fits well...

tehy dont last from what i here, thatsd why i dont own one. But take the advice from the owners or former owners. Apparently water gets in the joints and they rust, and are no longer capable of rotating.

i thought it was a typo at first but ADVICE is spelled advice. if your looking for the best quality look no further than MYAsaray, as for the others your on your own, but saharasmoke hookahs are fine as are social smokes, hookah shisha and the other regulars. If you want a really cool looking hookah check out hookahook.com I actually dont know the quality of those hookahs, but im definently gonna by xmas next year cause they look so cool.

EDIT: BTW the hookah you picked out looks fine, except i dont dig the vase but whatever floats your boat. going with a standard egyptian hookah is usually the best way to start out

Forget the free stuff, the free stuff that comes with hookahs wholesales for a dollar or two. Just buy the best hookah, forget about that last buck or two of stuff you didn't even choose...they told you what you were going to pay for.

Egyptian, standard. Best. Many problems with rotating hookahs. When wobbly, the only problem is that there is a slight bend in the shaft the descends into the bearings . Find out where the "bottom" of the wobble is, grab the hookah and bend very gently and very slightly. I can level alomost all rotators using this technique.

thats an amazingly nice hookah. ive smoked out of one of those as well as examined them at the mya store in sterling va and can tell you its a very high quality solidly made hookah and base. price upfront is alot, but you wont regret spending 60 on a worse quality one 3 months later and then spend the 140. plus theres a 15% discount. woot.

I've heard the same thing... the ball bearings that make the rotator rotate eventually rust causing the stem area to lock up making it unable to rotate. Unless you baby the sucker... i dont think it's worth the hassle.
