Need hookah product suggestions.

Recommended Posts

Hello!!!
Well I'm new to the site, been browsing for a while though.

Here's my baby

So thats my setup, I used just the regular brown clay bowl that came with my hookah.

1) Coming to my first question, I've heard many things about this "MYA" Bowl, what makes it so much better then the clay bowl?

The shisha flavors I've tried are:

Al Fakher Apple
Al Fakher Apricot.
these two were pretty good mixed together.

2) I'm running out of shisha, and I've heard many good things about Romman and other shisha, can someone reccommend some good shisha? I'm looking for
thick smoke, and some bangin tasty flavor.

Keep in mind that for now I'm just using these regular "Dodo" self light charcaols.

And... that brings me to my third question,
3) Ive been hearing about these Japaneese Charcoals, Do they produce more heat? Last longer? because right now these circular self lights are pissing me off due to ash going in the bowl/ them running out within like 20 minutes.

Can someone suggest some charcoals to me? If you've got a large supply of Japaneese, maybe i can send u some cash through paypal, and u send me some coals so i can test them out?

Well thanks a lot guys, hopefully someone will be kind enuf to solve these questions!!! :)

EDIT: haha another question... what kind of hole configurations do you usually do with your foil? I usually just make a spiral around the whole head, small holes. Is that a bad way? any better configs?

nice flex! haha you look like a greek statue smoking hookah.

I cant see your bowl so i dont know exactly what you did up on that bowl but you usually want to use 1 + 1/2 - 2 charcoal discs per bowl.

AF apricot and Apple are great flavors! if thats what you dig keep getting al fakher, it happens to be my favorite brand. Another brand that I love and alot of other members on the forum do is Tangiers, this can be found at hookahcompany.com or mnhookah.com . Also Al Amir is a really good brand cause they got sweet flavors.

About the charcoals, the best instant lights you can buy are three king charcoals or golden- i prefer three kings personally. Japanese coals are nice but dont give as much heat as three kings charcoals ( at least in my few experiences with japanese coals). You can also try natural coals although they are a little tricky if your not using finger naturals.

your hole configuration sounds perfect, make sure your poking with something about as wide as a pen point or a small nail, and make sure it is wider than a needle point.

Great looking hookah, try putting ice and stuff in the base and chopped up fruits. If you put sliced apricot int here while smoking AF apricot you will be surprised by how much the flavor gets better.

Also try using a windcover if you smoke outside, or inside because it keeps the heat focused on the bowl

Welcome to the forum! feel free to ask nay more questions you want.

EDIT: it looks like your using a screen and not foil am i right?

I don't have a Mya bowl so I can't comment on that.

As for shisha, there's a wide variety. It's also fairly subjective, according to people's tastes. Tangiers is praised a lot on this board, but for a new hookah smoker, it may be too much (it's almost a talent to get tangiers' stuff to smoke right). Nakhla is pretty cheap and delicious with a good nicotine buzz (some people claim it's too mcuh).

I'd recommend Al-Waha. Five Star is a good flavor, as is After Nine.

oh haha you're right, i was using a screen there, i was trying them out for 1-2 smoke sessions until i realised they were absolute CRAP.
I'd rather stay away from tangiers from now, but I have been smoking for about 2 years now so not really a novice, just very open to new methods.
Damn, too bad that I got a 100 count box of Dodo, thats gonna last a few more months :(
When thats gone though, I guess I'll try out 3 King. btw, I've never actually put more then one charcoal on the foil, do you put them side by side, or stack them up?

AND PSHHHH WAS NOT FLEXING!! i look natually beastly lol

side by side i would say is the best method. I actually have a great charcoal configuration for 30gram sized bowls, look up the Ultimate charcoal configuration thread- and just do what it says there except with two normal sized coals that is if your bowl is a 10-15gram bowl.

Nour finger coals are amazing if you want naturals, and goldens are good QL. As for tobacco, I really like Romman, it is just overpriced. Fumari is good as well, also over priced. I love waha because it is affordible, has some good flavors (after nine is my current favorite). Nakhla is also a good usual smoke because of price and most of the flavros are decent (Sweet melon and Double apple are the two best nakhla flavors). Fumari is deffinitley the way to go for super thick smoke and amazing flavors, it just has zero buzz and is expenisve.

Japanese coals give off less heat but are the least messy of all charcoal types; heat management is very easy with them, but the downside is they end up costing more due to the number required. Finger coals (processed naturals) are a good compromise between economy and ease of use; quick lights such as 3 Kings are a good choice as well, but the fact they have gunpowder-stuff in them to light is a bit worrysome.

As for brands of tobacco, there's a lot out there to choose from. Brands I'd recommend that aren't overpriced are Al Amir, Al Fakher, Havana, Tangiers and Layalina. Brands such as Starbuzz and Fumari cost more and are sometimes not worth it, but many flavors are worth the extra price. Your best bet to find what you like is to check out 50g packs from Social Smoke or Hookah Company; experiment with brands and flavors before buying 250g of something that you can't get off your hands when you find out it sucks (i.e. Havana Cocount...anyone? take it!)

do not be spreading your anti screen lies XD you just dont know how to use em. Screens are diffrent than foil, and as such need to be treated diffrent. The first best and greatest advice on screens, the tobacco cant touch the screen. That alone works wonders. I use a screen everytime except with my tangiers bowl.

And thats the next point, you sure its not the tangiers funnel bowl youve been hearing about? The mya bowl i have i like, but i dont think its that popular. But if you want an amazing bowl get the funnel bowl. Im not just a tangiers minion, well i am but i also really like the product. I didnt become a minion for nothin :P The bowl lasts longer, can really increase the flavour and length of your smoke. And his tobacco is pretty awesome too. The licorice is very underated and a flavour i would reccomend it, its sweeter than normal licorice, not like the anise flavour in dbl apple.

Other brands, i would say would be Al Waha and Nakhla. Those 2, and tangiers are my favorite brands. the AW and Nakhla are both fairly cheap, have a broad range of very good flavours, and are just all around good smokes. The thickest smoke ive ever had was with Al Waha Mint, which i have a new box of :D

As for coals, i usually get a good 30-40 minutes out of one 3 kings charcoal, even with constant smoking. What kind of gunpowder disks you using? I would suggest sticking with quicklights, but thats just my preference.

As for the pattern on foil when i use foil, i usually go pretty random, just poking where ever :P

Hope that helps :P

As far as shisha goes I wouldn't buy Romman, it is over priced crap imo. I would go with Nakhla, Al Waha or Havana. There are more like tangiers and fumari but I havn't personally tried them so I can't recommend them

Layalina and Havana make some pretty bangin flavours. Layalina Eskandarini Apple, Blueberry, and Pear are ridic. You should try them.

Pretty picture, by the by.
