Darkwatcher758
I've been checking out the forums for a few weeks and I had some questions to ask. Everyone kept talking about the QT hookah so I went ahead and got one but they're small. What is special about them? I also have a bigger Egyptian one which is pretty cool. Can anyone tell me if this was worth it and what I should look for getting next time I order tobacco and where you recommend getting it from. Also this is going to be my first time using natural coals, are they hard to heat up or break up? I took people's advice and did the foil before tobacco trick and I do get much more smoke. Any other tips you recommend? fruit in bowl gives more flavor? I mix all my flavors with a mint base most of the time, Al Wala is very strong, the fruit punch so I usually mix it with mint. Any tips or any advice will do I’m so interested in getting in the hookah scene. So I put in a order for 5 starbuzz 100grams for $40. I also made a order from CustomHookahs for: Planet Hookah Wood Charcoal 2.2 Pound Bag Aqua Junior QT Hookah Which came out to $60 Was it worth it? SanguineSolitude
mya qt is a very high quality hookah. i have one myself. yes its a small hookah but its very portable and good for smoking by oneself or just with a friend or two. i havent tried planet hookah charcoals but should be interesting, natural wood coals need to be heated on either a stovetop or with a propane torch until they are grey all over.. fruit in bowl doesnt do crap really, foil under tobacco theres no real need to do it. mixing with mint is tasty. al waha isnt strong. i usually order everything i can from socialsmoke. theyve always taken care of me and they give a 15% discount to forum members. the same could be said of h-s only ive never used them so i cant comment. most people recommend them as well. Darkwatcher758
I also have this big "Red carpeted" hose I bought I forgot what the brand is but its expensive, it has the phone number for the place printed on the hose itself. if you know what I'm talking about are those good hoses? Also nothing is wrong with mixing a bit of mint with fruit right? Is there anything I can buy to make my smoking experience more enjoyable? The difference between QT and a big one is just size right? Same amount of smoke out of both of them?
EvansLight
Ok as for the QT, its got massive amounts of hype around it for a reason. Of course the size is the bigest, but just being small doesnt really help, the fact that it actually smokes amazingly as well as being a small package gives it its biggest advantage. It smokes just as good as any regular egyptian and in my opinion is just one of the best hookahs out there. And yes its the same amount of smoke. I personally order from mainly SocialSmoke and Hookah-Shisha, both provide discounts. I also shop with MNHookah now since they carry tangiers tobacco. And get a funnel bowl from hookahcompany, they rock and no idea what kind of hose that is XD
Darkwatcher758
What is a funnel bowl, I couldn't find it on the website. What is it called? What the difference vs a regular bowl? oh and 2 more questions: Is there anyway to get rid of the old smoke smell in the hose? Double Apple seems to leave a smell inside. Also do you run water through the stem of the hookah or just use the hard brush to clean it? It's so hard to get rid of old smells but the base because I can wash that in really hot water and it cleans it out well. I have a bbq girll outside and next to it I have a big stove top so I can put the coals on that. So wait until its grey all around then take it off? And I heard I can use a hammer or something to cut them to the right pieces. here is a pic of the hose,
Joseph
A few hoses, most are not. If it is not washable putting in it will cause rust, which is REALLY bad to inhale. Buying a washable hose is the best hookah investment I have made. If you do not know for sure if it is washable, then DO NOT put water in it. I always wash out my stem with hot water and use the brush.
Darkwatcher758
I don't think its going to be washable the one I have now.. Although the QT im getting in the mail, does anyone know if its a washable hose?
DizzyGuy
QT = MYA = washable.
Darkwatcher758
do you load the tobacco around it and just foil it up and poke holes like normal? looks cool I might put an order in for one. Thanks for helping me man, I appreciate it =)
EvansLight
yea about filling it around. As for holes, i make enough to cover about as much room as 1 3Kings takes, then pop the 3k on, and rotate the foil around the bowl.
Sonthert
My, what an atttractive bowl. Looks handmade, too. You can remove the head and stem pieces from that hose and wash them separately. Thats whats best, I think in this situation.
Sonthert
I think the cloth wrapped Khalil Mamoon Hoses are better than those...I think what you have is one of the best on the market.
Darkwatcher758
Yeahh!! thats the brand Mamoon, are those really the best hose? that's what hookah bar guy said when I made the buy. Thick smoke and inside of looks like leather.. do you know anything about them? If they're washable because smoke smell is still suck in it. DizzyGuy
While you wait to see if it's washable, you could hook a vaccum up to it for a few minutes

Remember the story "The Emperor Wears no Clothes?" MYA makes quality stuff.. but this was a major ball drop in the design dept which has gone unadressed. Tick-Tock...... has it been 15 minutes yet. MYA hoses rock pretty much on whatever you are smokin.
EvansLight
i swear lake just hates it cause its popular. but the qt is a damn good hookah, same level of quality as any other hookah ive owned or even used, that includes a mya acrylic and bohemian. And it might be cheap in price but its not cheap in quality. The base is a good design and very durable. The stem is just about solid and i swear the stem alone weighs more than my damn 36" egyptian put together XD The fact that its small and protable just helps so much as well. I seriously think lake was betean up by a QT as a kid
Lakemonster
I dont dislike it becasue its popular.... MYA Saray is popular as a whole.... I have no bones to pick with them as far as material quality and finished product. The QT, however (IMHO) is a good idea that has bad design... and results in poor function on 3 fronts. 1. Too many vendors are saying the QT smokes like bigger hookahs. I flatly dissagree with that. The smoke is harsher to me.. all my taller hookahs smoke smoother... I think the statement is incorrect. 2. Purge issues....... Ive been here too many times before to go into detail (yet again) 3 Ashplate seating and size. The plate is too small to be effective. It is held on by the bowl grommet. which doesnt work all that hot. Leaving a bit of hot coal on the plate will melt the bowl grommet. (remember that thing that is supposed to hold the plate on?) To fix any either of the two problems, it would increase the problem with the other. IF you angled the hose connection downward more to aid the purge issue, the hose itself would interfere with the ashplate... and since the ashplate cant be any smaller... then it turns into a catch 22 situation. The upside is that it is sturdy... I have no doubts I could run the stem over with my truck and be able to stab it back on the base and have a smoke. I have one of these things.... I bought one due to the fact that there was alot of buzz and acclaim about it. Ive smoked the thing plenty. and I found it to be more "novel" than useful. I'll be takin it for pic-nics....... but at the house, I want a hookah that performs well in all the departments.
EvansLight
1.) Is personall opinion, it cant be correct or incorrect. And i feel it smokes as good as any big hookah i have ever used. 2.) one small flaw, nothing to damn a hookah over 3.) i have no problem with this, and have not had my bowl grommet melt, not even close. Ive let coals sit in for ages and no melty. I take my big guy for partys and all that, but the qt is my daily smoke, and for good reason. Out of all small hookahs its the best, you cant tell me there is any other this size that smokes this good. But once agian its all opinion, just like many things, its good parts out way the negative
BattlePope
Now that Lake mentions it, it does seem to be a bit harsher than some of the taller pipes we've smoked from. I've always thought that our heat management was off, as sometimes we've gotten excellent smokes and sometimes it's been really harsh. The QT is definately well made though... SanguineSolitude
i love my qt for smoking by myself. but would i ever smoke it with friends? no. its true the smoke isnt as smooth in the qt and its also true that the purge valve isnt a great design. I smoke from a decent sized egyptian with friends, because the quality is better. but the qt is just so handy and easy to deal with for smoking alone. plus i can put it on the table next to me when im watching a movie and be in perfect reach of everything. very handy littel guy but def not the best hookah out there.
