Hookah cleaning...

Recommended Posts

Ok... So I wanna give my hookah a little more of a bath than just hot water and the brush... I've heard of some people on the forum meantion lemon juice and I have some in a bottle... What ratio lemon juice to water do I use, hot or cold water, and do I just rinse it through the hookah or do you let it soak for a little?

No personal experience myself, but the wiki recommends a 1:1 mix

It's not going to hurt your hookah if you add to much lemon juice so it really doesn't matter. I use vinegar because it seems to clean it better. But about the mix I would go half and half

lemon is da bomb. I use a wall paper tray for my stem, and just the sink for the base. I fill both up with water and lemon juice, no idea what kind of mix i just put alot in :P then let em soke for a bit. I usually also put the bowl, grommets, and other items in. Then after a while take em out and wash em off :D

Acetic acid is what is in viniger, glacial acetic acid is pure aceitc acid, you need to use a fume hood to use it or it will burn the shit out of your nose and throat, which I have done. Also, it will severly burn your skin. It woud deffinitley get the gunk out of a hookah.

Except for the fact that I'm not 21 till the end of March and due to the fact that I moved out of the college town that I was in, it's a bit harder to get someone to buy for me.
Interesing side point: Glacial Acetic Acid freezes around 55F.
Beer is much safer and easier to get. Use beer for cleaning.
But the Book of Manlaw Chapter 8 verse 14 and 15 specifically states:

14: Though shalt not use beer for anything other than drinking.
15: The only exception is where a good recipe calls for it.

I am not sure if a cleaning recipe counts? I'm so torn :(

Okay, there may be a loophole. As everybody knows there is more than one manlaw that specifically states "Thou shalt not waste beer". Hell, that's the first commandment!!! But here is a scenerio I have been torn over more than once. You party the night before and next day brings cleanup. During the cleanup you find where some of your buds (hopefully not yourself!) have left unfinished beers laying around. :( So the sin is already committed. If by pouring it out are you still wasting beer? By using the beer to clean your hookah would that be using the bad beer and therefore not wasting the beer? Could you actually help redeem a drunken beer wasting bro in the process?
I'm thinking that could well be the case and that said bro should have to give you $5 per wasted beer just for principle! :)

I don't know I'm keen on using wounded soldiers for cleaning my hookahs.. I use a few squirts of lemon juice with some water added (no real ratio math needed) in my base and stem.. swirl around for a couple minutes, run your brushes through, and voila.. clean with no smell...

you can use beer if you want, but I use it to whet my whistle while I clean my hookahs.
