guest 606
...and i'll tell you why. So i got this bag of nour natural coals and let me tell you, they smoke like a champ. But i've been having crazy ass bad luck with these. I didn't want to use the tiny ass ashtray that i have with my mya mini acrylic so i took this ceramic plate and put the coals on the plate. The coals were so hot that they split the plate clear in half. So i was really bummed out so i tried it with a glass plate. First time, worked like a charm but the second time, the glass got so hot that it burned my beautiful wooden table. I now have 4 permanent burn marks on my table. So the next time i put it on some oven mitts and a coaster and those also burned. And last but not least. I was being stupid so i took the hot ass plate and i put it in a pan with some ICE. Thinking it would melt, it would turn into water and water absorbs heat like no other. I WAS WRONG. The plate just shattered into a million pieces. WHAT DO YOU GUYS DO WHEN YOU USE NATURAL COALS CAUSE I CAN'T THINK OF A SOLUTION?
Puddy
Get a small metal paint bucket from a hardware store (should be like $3) or a terra cotta flower pot (without a drainage hole in the bottom, of course... actually one of those terra cotta trays you put under the flower pot would probably be better), and put it on a trivet. The whole purpose of a trivet is to protect your table from hot plates.
Joseph
My ash tray is metal, so I just set the coals on that when I need to, never had any problems. Anything metal should be fine.
DrunkenWizard
When moving my coals I use small pyrex bowls. They are cheap and you can find them at Fry's or even Wal-mart. I also use pie tins.
Johnny_D
Up until now i have just used an old breakfast bowl to transport my hot coals around [Espcially after the weekends events. Thankfully KitchenGate had an unexpected turn yesterday] But now i am worried that may not be good enough! As for my experience with natural coals... I've found them thus far to either be off the hook for smoking, or really really meh. Nothing in the middle. JD
EvansLight
Well i use the large ash tray from my big hookah, and use some screens to lift it up off the ground XD other than that you ever think about buying a charcoal carrier
The Dude Abides
I use a spoon caddy to carry coals. Now, you may be asking what, exactly, is a spoon caddy? It's what I call these giant looking spoon things that you put near your stove that you can place sauce-covered spoons in when cooking, so as not to get sauce all over the counter. Mine is stainless steel and has a nice handle for carrying. You could probably pick one up at any local grocery or bigbox store. Looks like this: Looks just like a spoon, but much, much bigger. Calcartman
I'm hating my Nour Fingers natural coals as well. What idiot decided to make something extremely hot round and skinny? They consistantly roll off my damn tangiers bowl, and now i understand how people burn their carpet. I'm practically ready to throw mine away! PeaceinIsrael
Dont throw them away! ill take them. I don't exactly love them either but ill use them. I have NO COALS at the moment. I can pay for shipping.
aronparsons
I use a large ash tray from one of my other two hookahs when using Nours with my QT. The fact that they're round is annoying though and I've had them roll of my bowl a couple of times; if I hadn't had the larger ash tray affixed to my QT, my carpet would be screwed right now. Anyways, I'm glad I have another few boxes of Japanese coals arriving; less fuss involved.

NorthEastSmoker
I've had similar issues with the nours rolling off the bowl.. The natural coals that h-s sells are great.. nearly identical to nours in that they have no taste and are easy to light on a stove top.. the difference is that they are triangle shaped.. no rolling off the bowl!
The triangle ones are great, but its hard to get them, a store here used to sell them, in a nour bag too, but then last week a picked up another bag identical to the previous one, cept these ones were round. Wonder what the deal there is? Are there companies making imitation nours in seemingly identical packaging, or does nour just have strange production runs? Joseph
My nour coals have never rolled off the hookah. I put down some carpet over the real carpet when I am smoking, so I am protected if one does fall.
NorthEastSmoker
skiracer.. I don't know if they're made by nour, or are knock-offs.. when I asked Hookah-Shisha they said they were nours.. Doesn't say Nour anywhere on the bag, although the bag and the picture on the bag are identical to Nours... I love them.. same as nours, but won't roll off the bowl..
