New Member/ Need Help Finding A Hookah

Recommended Posts

Hi I am a brand new member and I really want to buy myself a Hookah. It doesn't have to be big and fancy or come with multiple hoses because it's just for me. My budget it $45.00 pre-shipping, and I really want my Hookah to come with a wire case/cage. I have done a little shopping and I came up with this Hookah: http://shisha-hookah.com/Mya-Saray-Blue-Gl...72-p-18496.html . It comes with 2 free 50g Shisha flavors too, which is the best brand offered from shisha-hookah.com, and is the Three Kings Charcoal that they give me any good or should I purchase a different brand? THANKS A LOT

to be honest, i thought my QT (which is what that hookah is) was great when i first got it, but then realized that the smoke always gets really harsh, or if it is not harsh, very thin. this is because the hookah is so small that the stem heats up a lot and the smoke does not get as cool. there are many who like the QT and i suppose they do not have this problem, but it is one thing to consider

if you want a taller hookah, you should check out the regular egyptian hookas at some other retailers...and possibly raise your budget a little bit

just my opinion though.

This is completly untrue. Above 10-12 inches this effect has nothing to do with the smoke. Some hookah's are not "smoother" than others- this is a big misconception among rookie smokers. The only way a pipe is "better" than another is if has a tighter seal in all of the ports, is more durable, or easier to clean.

If your QT doesnt smoke well- that means you dont know how to set it up properly; its not a flaw with the pipe.

Sorry if I sound rude here- but the board has been flooded recently with people who are calling products inferior because they are unable to properly use them (IE: Tangiers [sorry to bring it up]).

A QT is an absolutly perfect first hookah- you will not find a better made piece for the price. It is very durable, easy to clean, portable, and smokes like a champ. Elitehookah.com and hookah-shisha.com have the best deals on them. Or, you can order it directly from myasaray.com and have it customized to your tastes(2, 3, or 4 hoses, differet stems, ect).

I own 6 hookahs, from traditional egyptains to crazy modern pieces, and everything in between. I find myself loading up my QT more often than any other pipe, if that impacts your decision at all.

well in that case is there any advice you could give on setting up the QT?

i am sure that it would help me get a better smoke out of mine and Dan in making his decision

regardless of that i do not like that fact that the stem of it gets hot to the touch and i feel like that may be effecting my smoke, but prvong me wrong can only enrich my hookah experience

thank you

i would challenge the opinion that different hookahs dont smoke smoother than others. ina taller hookah the smoke spends more time in the chamber and in the stem allowing it to cool down more and for more glycerine to vaporize. i have smoked my egyptian and qt side by side and while i like the qt just fine it doesnt smoke as well (same tobacco and all) as the egyptian. call me crazy or call me a rookie smoker if you want to but struth i swear it.

i would still recommend an egyptian for the first hookah.

I recently got the QT as my first hookah, and I'm pretty pleased with it. The first time I smoked it was at my brothers place with a few friends of mine and a few of my brothers friends. Four out of seven people prefered the QT to my brother's no-name egyptian he got off ebay. Such a split demographic means that its all about personal preference, and that an egyptian is essentially the same quality smoke as the QT.
The point is, the QT is a nice little pipe, but if you decided to get an egyptian hookah, it'd also be hard to go wrong.

On a side note, you also mentioned you want some kind of case for your hookah. I also wanted a nice case for my hookah, and in my opinion, the bird cage the QT comes in is kind of unpractical because the hose, tongs or whatever else you can keep in it looks sloppy. There also isnt much room to safely pack much shisha or coals in the cage if you plan on bringing it places to smoke. Personally, I plan on getting a different case for my QT.

My advice to you is dont rush the decision. Shop around, compare prices, and make sure you get what you need or want included.

Everybody is gonna have some problems from time to time. I'll be the first one to say Tangiers needs different packing or treatment than what some people are used to. Well, I think other people might have beaten me to it, but you get the point.
