MYA QT or cheaper alternative?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,
I have knocked over my nice tall hookah thrice, and I am tired of burning carpets. I got a number of helpful recommendations the other day, and I am going to order a new short hookah to prevent the problem. I'm considering an MYA QT, although I found a cheapter ($30) alternative that calls itself a "pumpkin hookah"

Is it worth saving a few bucks, or should I get the MYA? What does the extra $20 get me?

Thanks much,
Paulson

The pumpkin isnt complete shit, but next to the qt it is, with the qt you'll get a smoother, thicker smoke, and an easier draw. Because of the small base on the pumpkin water gets into the hose easily too. Also if you really want a pumpkin go to a local head shop and save the shipping cost, everyone ive been to seems to carry them. That said you really should go with the QT, its much better quality and will last more than 2 months, unlike the pumpkins which are usually pretty crappy build quality. For some reason we have like 3 pumpkins here at my place (chalk it up to two dumb room mates and a freebie). I also own a QT so I do have direct expereince with both. The pumpkin smokes like you would think a small hookah will, while the qt smokes as good or better than my friends 26'' egyptian

Ok, I'm sold. An MYA QT it is then! If it really smokes like a 26" egyptian, then I'll be right at home, as that is my normal hookah. Thanks for the tips!

So, can anyone recommend a reliable vendor? I live really close to Dearborn, MI, so it seems that I should be able to go buy one in person, but I'm not sure where. Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Paulson

There is a 3rd option.

Just get a small egyptian style hookah. I recently got a little baby
hookah :-

And it smokes damn fine. I got this for the *exact* same reason as you are shopping. However Mya QT's are, currently, not available in the uk.

Hey man,

I think about it all the damn time. After a couple of very minor marks on the carpet... KitchenGate erupted!

Had a 1kg bag sitting on the glass plate (In the photo above) and was lighting a QuickLite. A spark or something went from the QL into the bag without my knowledge.

Sat in teh front room smoking away when.... BANG! It was like a damn gunshot as the glass shattered to hell & back.

Lovely great big burn mark on my new $15K kitchen worksurface.
Mrs JD has the hump like a deformed camel.

Thank **** for insurance.

So worry all you want my brother!

I got a QT from Shisha-world. Very impressive speed (2 days) and as it's in the EU, no risk of any customs charges for anything. It's a shame they don't do some higher end tobaccos.

The QT is a pretty little piece and does the job. I would say my MYA acrylic which is larger is much better however.

If you want a small shisha, I can see no reason why not to get the QT, but a bigger shisha will smoke better and you'll have less likelihood of messing up the water or blowing water up.

Which size acrylic do you have?

Can I suggest the bowl with attached windcover for anti-burning things. I couldn't smoke without mine because:
1) My stoopid dog can walk into my shisha all it wants . I can grab it and no coals go flying all over the place.
2) It fits two pieces of noor charcoal in there perfectly
3) The cover retains the heat and (providing you use good tobacco) you get the best smoke instantly because it really heats up.
4) The best thing about it is when smoke is dying down and you think you need some more coals/tobacco you just pick the bowl up from the bottom (not the lid cos it hot! :-) ), turn it upside down and vigourously shake over your ash catcher. All the old ash, and small bits of lit charcoal will come out, you jig the tobacco around by shaking and you get another 30mins of smoking at least. No waste or hassell at all. I love mine, they rock.
