Johnny_D
Dear Forum :- Anyone have much (or any) experience with this Tobacco ? It's a decent price in the uk and i fancy something other than Nahkla (Which is so stupidly priced it's just not funny) Check it out here Cheers, JD
Calcartman
I have many afzal flavors (or had), and its really not a shisha i enjoy. It comes with 4 free mouthtips per box, and you get your moneysworth by weight (very juicy), but its not a pleasant smoke to me. Its very finely diced, it almost looks like powder with juice all over it. I find it very sticky, and hard to pack a bowl with in a way that burns well and is easy to draw through. Lemon-Lime was a decent flavor, and my friends liked their peach (very weak flavor though). and it has a strong, unwashed buzz.
clarity
i tried afzal once and only once. the taste was pretty awful, i would not recommend it. i had it with my stash for the longest time, but recently passed it on to a friend. he's afraid to try it haha. we make jokes because 'afzal' sounds close to 'asshole'. which is pretty much what it tasted like. not that i know from experience or anything. : P
Johnny_D
Thanks Cal' and Clarity I allways appreciate honest opinion.. As Nahkla has been my staple Narghila Diet for years, how would you stack it again Nahkla? Cheers, JD
Macho555
Isn't Afzal made by the same people as Soex? Judging by how people speak of Soex, I can't imagine it would be that wonderful...
clarity
johnny_d-- i've never tried nahkla, so i couldn't tell you. macho555--yes soex makes afzal, and i wouldn't be surprised if they have some sort of herbs mixed with the tobacco. its a cool sounding idea, but if that really is what they do, then they have failed horribly. xP

Soex blows. And yes, i just checked www.soex.com and yep, Afzal is there. I wonder if it's worth blowing £8 on it ($5) just to try it out. clarity
well i say the best way to learn something is by experience (in most cases). if you've got $5 to blow on it, i say do it, just so you can form your own opinion. who knows, maybe you'll get a good batch and like it. [LB]
i heard it looks like shit, and has a texture similar to cookie dough or something. calcartman sounds like he knows best. there are some retailers in the us that ship overseas though- i forget there was someone who recently said they were offering overseas shipping./
LUXOR HOOKAHS
JD: Yes as you found out AFZAL is made by the Soex people. This is an Indian tobacco that is vey different from Egyptian tobacco. I to smoke quite a bit of Nakhla and it is very different. Nakhla is smooth and mellow Afzal is tart and slightly bitter (much the same as Soex)
mushrat
Ive had the afzal strawberry, it wasn't THAT bad. It was actually pretty tasty, just not up to the level of other things I could get. I think there are a few afzal reviews in the review section.
Ch3W
Man I love Azfal orange... it's one of my favourate flavours. Afzal isn't a bad brand in my opinion. My friends love it, and so do I. Each to his own though. Nakhla is the daddy for sure, but so hard to get hold of the real stuff in the UK. Al Falkner is also good (not sure I've spelt that right). JD
It really isn't terrible, and if you're stuck on nahkla you might find some flavors you like. I suggest starting with a 50g box though, and pick a flavor you generally like from other brands. (NOT BLACKBERRY!). The orange wasn't bad, neither was peach or lemon-lime. If you're sick of nahkla, give it a shot. The buzz is about the same, flavor is a personal opinion. Also, 8 pounds is about 15$ (maybe thats what you meant, just a typo?) HAHkoo
i have afzal apple and the texture is like sticky play dough, taste isn't that bad kinda minty, and it wont smoke right if you don't have enough heat source, but compared to naklah and al waha its ok, to have if you have company over or just to have a quick session. At my local smoke shop it was $3 for a 50g box.
gingervoodoo
I'm new here but had to chip in! Nahkla is crap! If thats all youre smoking then you may wee yourself with excitment when you actually smoke proper shisha. I dont even bother buying any shisha in england because its all way too expensive and rubbish. I'd rather not smoke at all than smoke any of the fake al fakher and nahkla I can pick up in liverpool. Go to southsmoke.com, hookahcompany.com etc and buy some real al fakher, or al amir etc and even with the price of delivery to the UK it works out cheaper than buying rubbish here. Al Fakher on southsmoke.com is $9.99 (about £6 for 250g) Its £4-50ish for fake al fakher here! I haven't tried azfal but I suspect thats rubbish as well. I've tried loads of 50g samples in the past to check out whats good and whats not, now I wouldn't even disrespect my shisha-pipe by putting anything else in it but 1) al fakher 2) al fakher premium 3) romman 4) al amir 5) starbuzz 6) havana. There may be other good brands out there but I dont know about them. Seriously fella, Nahkla and all the other corner shop toot isn't like smoking a shisha at all. Do I sound harsh?! Don't mean to rant but ordering from the states has been like a revelation to me! It will cost about £13 delivery from the states but even if you add that onto a few £250g jars it makes it reasonable and a really good shisa pipe is priceless! :-)
Johnny_D
Thanks GingerVD. I've spent so much time looking around the us sites and drooling Have you ever had issues with getting the packages into the uk? Have you ever had to pay the customs & Excise duties? JD
gingervoodoo
thankfully not, and the companies don't really splash it all over the box either. I had a few boxes sent over and I've never had to cough up for duties. What I did was order lots of 50g sample packs from both hookahcompany.com and socialsmoke.com. I ordered 10-ish sample boxes to make the delivery worthwhile but when you convert it to £'s it works out about £2.50 a pack, about the same price as the dried up cornershop rubbish. Now I know what I really like I'm ordering at least four 250g packs to be sent to my aunts house in california, cos I'm going on a hoilday there soon and I plan to shisha out! If I had any of the good stuff left I wold of sent you out but I'm down to my last bowl of al amir banana split now.... :-( Get some al fakher or some al amir, you'll be in shisha heaven! :-) oh, and i got some cream for the gingerVD. cleared up fine.
