I have this funny birth mark on my ass, a lot of mongols have it, it's a blue spot. It' is funny, In Las Vegas some japanese guy thought my grandpa was Japanese and started to speek to him, my grandpa din't know what the hell he was saying, yep my grandpa looks Japanese we always tease him for it. Anyway, you guys can call me El hefe (the boss) or El Hazzard (not the anime, Im just a Hazzard) Some people call me pinche cabron.[/quote]so how did you find out that the birthmark was common? I'm getting all these funny scenarios.

kbhatti
100% Pakistani, speak and read arabic as well. Hookah is fairly common in our culture. It pretty much gave my grandfather cancer. But it took 50+ years.

PersianPride
As the name sort of suggests I'm of Persian-Azeri ancestry. And the arabs didn't really introduce hookah/nargile (whatever you want to call it) to the world. The fundamental concept came from India and developed/matured in Persia and Turkey. Johnny_D
I think a better way of phrasing the question would be 'Are you of middle eastern/ottaman/turkish/indian' Desent. Being as the hookah started in pritty much all these places! JD
Shavo989
Although everyone I first meet thinks I'm an Arab or Middle Eastern, when they find out my last name is Romanian they get really confused. Truth is I'm of Romany (a.k.a. Gypsy) heritage. That's right folks, a dirty, thieving, good-for-nothing Gypsy. Like the beloved hookah, my ethnic group also trace our ancestral roots to India, albeit we left 1000 years ago so it couldn't have been that great. Hmm... Wonder if I'm the only Rom on the forum. -Matt

So we used to steal some from the kitchen canister and trade it with them for their wonderful barbari bread or romani sweets.

PersianPride
Iran is a country with many nationalities and religions. Persians make up the majority however there are also Kurds, Arabs, Armenians, Lurs etc. To say that Iranians are all Persians is like saying all Americans are white, its a bad generalization. Anpu
I'm Italian/Mexican/Irish/Austrian (from most to least), however, I love the hookah and a good deal of the Arab culture. I love a lot of the music and food too as well, some of which are now favorites of mine (by favorites, i mean songs and dishes). It did start with an intrest in hookah but unlike my friends who introduced it to me, I wanted to know about the culture behind it too, and that lead to many of my interests now. I'd love to learn Arabi (I know a few very basic words) one day and I'd love to visit Egypt some time in the near future as well as Lebanon when the climate has settled down. Heh did I metion I was gaga for Nancy Ajram? heheheheh So. To answer your question, no, I'm not of Arabic decent
oryon1033
I plan on going back to the motherland one day. It's funny how cultural I've become since I start smoking. I never really appreciated my roots growing up, and I lost a lot of language because of it. I still know a decent amount of arabi, but I'm really trying to learn more so I can gain my fluancy back. Call me crazy but I think my main reason for wanting to go is the women. Absolutely beautiful women over there! My full ethnicity is 50% Lebanese 43.75% Spanish and 6.25% Navajo Indian.
