[LB]
I was smoking today and i used a quick technique that maybe some of you know, but i had never really posted about or mad public. I was smoking with a big 44mm some al amir sour apple, when it started to give alittle less smoke so i crushed the charcoal on top of the bowl and of course, as expected dusts and ash jumps in the bowl and it instantly tastes like arse. so heres a little technique i use to prevent, cure myself of that junk. first poke slighly smaller holes but not too small. Step 1. brush coals into tray or dish. Make sure they arent too crushed otherwise you cant put em back on! Step 2. Remove head, walk over to your sink or whatever and blow through the bottom of the bowl, be careful not to burn your lips Give it a big ole huff, real strong- but not so much to blow off the tinfoil, just to get all that nasty dust out. Careful for molasses you might get some in your mouth, its tasty but extremely bitter. Step 3. if need be, retighten foil or shake around the shisha a little Step 4. place back on hookah, and put back on your coals So next time your sesh tastes like ass, give this a try, it just might save you your 20cent bowl of shisha

OPR234
I'm a little confused... So instead of dropping the coal in the ashtray to get the ash off, you press on it while its still on the foil? And then I understand the whole blowing through the bowl to get the ash out, because it always ends up where you dont want it. I guess my question is, why dont you drop your coals to shake more ash off away from the shisha? I havent had too much problem with the ash getting into the shisha before the bowl is done, but part of that is because I use small bowls that get cashed faster. Additionally, on longer lasting bowls, I think I can safely assume that they get pretty damn hot. So by the time you got to that point I think it'd be faster to just pack a new bowl by the time it cooled down enough to put your mouth on. But yes, your way is much better in terms of conserving shisha, which is I think all of us have done before and will do again. And yes, I am rambling like a mofo right now, so please dont take offense if my opinion offends you in any way. Edit: Have you tried removing the foil, and using a mini vacuum (like something you would clean your car out with) to suck some ash out so you dont need to wait if the bowl is too hot to put your mouth on, then using a new sheet of foil? Just another weird-ass idea I had... PS: The rambling continues!

I never touch my coals unless I'm ashing them, and when I'm ashing them, I carefully pick them up with the tongs and drop them in the tray, scraping the ash off so they are glowing red again. I will then blow any ash that happened to fall off the coal and onto my bowl during the ashing process off my bowl, then finally placing my freshly clean coals back onto the bowl. But since not everyone does it this way, I can understand that people will get a bunch of ash in their bowl, and need to blow it out. I saw a worker at my local lounge doing the same technique with the bowl.
xpimpitox
what i usually do is ash the coals and blow off any ash on top of the bowl. maybe 30 mins into the session i take off the coals whether they need ashing or not pick up the bowl and gently blow on the underside and you should see smoke comin out the opposite end. i do it till it stops blowin smoke. kinda clears any ash that has fallin into the bowl and freshens up the shisha a bit, i find it smokes better unless its totally a roasted bowl. worked wonders last nite on tangiers old style bowl and starbuzz peach but man it took days of blowing, big ass bowl!!!! Then take off the bowl and tap it against the bowl to knock off any larger pieces of the coal laying there. Next blow through the bottom of the bowl. You dont need to put your mouth to it. Just close enough that the air is forced through the bowl. I blow through the bowl 3 times, then I put the bowl back down and put on my new coal. I only do this when I am take off an old coal and putting on a new one.

Onion
I usually just get that stuff off by putting the coals in the tray, and then quickly wiping the surface with a moistened paper towel
Hookahmania
8) [LB] has a good tech, I do the same. I take off the coals and put um in the tray, then I blow the ash on top of the foil down to the tray, some gets on the table, but i clean that shit, I ani't no fucking slob. Ok, then I grab the bowl and blow 1, to get out some of the ash 2, becuse the shisha shrinks as it is smoked, so it breaks the "puck" a little to release some flavor. My bowl get's a little hot, but it ain't like im burning myself like when im lighting paper begs full of shit and ringing the door bell at someones house, or like burrning my ass on a candle when im taking a shit in someones jack o' lantern ( remember! holloween is comming up! Ill try to get my friends cam and make a crap o' lantern video for ya folks becuse we cool like that. If you are wondering how old i am, it't 25, damn I still know how to have some fun, you feel me playa, dont forget to take some tp and wetnaps!.) so don't be scared to get a little burn, be a man, and if you are a girl, you better stay a girl, too much damn dikes in santa fe, oh shit ill speak on some other shit about santa fe but i might get into trouble so ill stop. imonlyapuppet
Much easier to just ash the coals by dropping them onto the ash tray, then blowing off the top of the bowl. Sometimes you aren't near your kitchen sink or moist towels or whatever everyone else is suggesting
[LB]
what i was saying guys was that i made the mistake of crushing the charcoal on top of the foil. I usually dont do it, but if you do, or if oyu just have ash in your bowl you cna use the technique to clear the ash and particles from the bowl. I also lowers the temp of the shisha significantly if its burning.
