OPR234
I basically just wanna get an idea of how many people acclimate their shisha, and why. I don't hear too much about it either, but recently I've come across some flavors that basically need it.
MilqueToast
Yes, all of it. 0% [ 0 ] Only some of it. 100% [ 1 ] No, none of it 0% [ 0 ] Total Votes : 1 I -AM- the majority. No, seriously though. Certain tobaccos taste soapy (to me), and acclimating fixes that problem. Some shisha smokes just fine straight from the tub, so acclimating is unnecessary. Big temperature differences from tub to bowl, I'd acclimate. Soapy taste, acclimate. Otherwise, prolly not.

DizzyGuy
Sometimes... it really depends... I just pull AW out of whatever case and smoke it... but this Tangiers that I will be getting tomorrow or the day after... i will probably acclimate first
Skimo
It all depends on the brand
Puddy
I usually take mine out of the box right away and put it into my storage containers. I guess that counts as acclimating, but that's not why I do it.
Sonthert
[quote name='Puddy']I usually take mine out of the box right away and put it into my storage containers. Low nicotine tobaccos seem to need acclimation alot less, so many people that stick to the washed brandswill find that acclimation "does little". Joey32b
I rarely acclimate. When I smoke my Fumari, I have no problems. When I smoke Tangiers, sometimes it can be harsh, but only for like the first 20 minutes. It almost always smoothes itself out and ends up smoking great. Sonthert
Since we live, like 5 miles from each other, it would follow. LOL. Its already acclimated. See you tonight. Guest list at Oddessey for this weekend, Oct. 13-14: AZ Coyote DJ Nick Joey32b Erica I am so excited...I might wet myself.
Skimo
Would it really need to be acclimated if the tempt doesnt change to much? Like I keep mine inside then smoke outside, its warmer outside natrually but if I don't acclimate it I dont really notice a difference. And I hate everybody on that list lol, unless yall fly me in

Sonthert
Skimo:I'll send my Lear fuckin' jet over for ya! Paul: Try using hot water in the vase and see if that doesn't improve the flavor a little more.

Gaara
My friend acclimates his Shisha and I don't notice any difference when I go over. When you guys say acclimate, what exactly do you do? Take it out and put it in a sealed container? Opened?
mushrat
I try to take all my new stuff and open it up for the day when I'm at work.If I plan ahead, I open whatever I'm going to smoke in the evening sometime before I leave for work.I HAVE noticed a difference in flavour with any number of brands. jordanneff
Well I have never acclimated any of the shisha I've set up and smoked. So far I haven't noticed any difference from when the shisha was in the same environment when smoked as opposed to bringing it in from the freezing cold outdoors, putting it in, and smoking it 5 mins later. Then again I've really only used 2 brands (AW and some off the wall Fantasia brand [which had a mighty fine strawberry daquari flavor - even tho it tasted more like licorice])... Smileys Ulti
I will load a bowl and then empty it on to a tray of some sort and let it sit while i prepare the rest of the hookah. Even after I set everything up I will let it sit again with the hot coals on the bowl. This way the shisha is ready and yummie to smoke.Smiley
timmediahOU
What exactly is acclimating the shisha? i currently am a big fan of al amir, what difference does this make?
mushrat
Its leaving the container open to the air a few hours before smoking. It allows the humidity levels equalize between the tobacco in the sealed container and the humidity of the surrounding air at the time you planning on smoking.Flavour and harshness CAN be effected if there is too much difference in the humidity search "humitity shock"Am Amir, being washed it may not make as big difference as Sonthert said. But I acclimate mine anyway. Not like it can HURT and may help a little..
timmediahOU
Ahh that makes perfect sense. however if someone lived in a desert climate would that in turn dry out the shisha?
