xpimpitox
man everytime an article like this is posted everybody seems to go in a frenzy...we are all adults and we are making the adult choice to smoke hookah. we all know the affects of smoking, especially me; my dad died of lung cancer due to smoking reds for well over 20 years. he did smoke quite a bit and only quit when he was diagnosed. my mom and my sister tell me i should quit hookah because of what happened to my father. it would be better for my asthmatic ass, but like i told my mom a few nites ago im 23, i think i could make my own adult choices. I make the choice to smoke like we all do. We all know its bad for us but shit its OUR adult choice. sorry i had to rant. its also funny how all these aritcles on hookah state the same thing over and over and over. my oldest sister is all you need to stop smoking, the water makes it worse than ciggs, i read it in an article. i was literally laughing out loud. Sonthert
Unfortunately, the logic could be said about drugs...they are building up the same BS regarding smoking, whether true or not that the scientific community built up on LSD to make it illegal. Or any of the other illegal drugs and the negative, obviously overstated evidence about them...all fabricated to justify making them illegal or keeping them illegal...there must be some plan or eventual timetable to making smoking illegal...now that the republicans (like Surgeon General Carmona or Von Eschenbach) are bashing tobacco. I hate to say it, but the cigarette companies are the only thing standing between us and hookah tobacco being outlawed. Scary, huh?
Krautle87
Whenever anybody gets on me about Hookah or my cigars, I just like to tell them that my liver will give out LONG before I get cancer from tobacco.
...all fabricated to justify making them illegal or keeping them illegal...there must be some plan or eventual timetable to making smoking illegal...now that the republicans (like Surgeon General Carmona or Von Eschenbach) are bashing tobacco.
Don't worry they're not going to ban tobacco, they just like to justify the ridiculous taxation they levy on our chosen vice. And you're right, I've always figured that it was just do-gooder liberals trying to crack down on tobacco, nowadays my GOP is getting almost as bad. web250
I live in the "small college town in Delaware" mentioned in the article (I go to the University Of Delware, we're the only noteworthy college in the state). And hookah use is definately on the rise here. I own my QT, and I've seen at least half a dozen other people with hookahs.
suicideguy
I go to Purdue University, in the midwest (as mentioned in the article) and we have our own hookah bar (which is what got me hooked). Too bad it costs $14 a bowl...that's the reason I bought my own. I'll make up for it in just a few sessions anyway.
Caramellanne
Hmm...Well obviously I cannot state my opinion in this forum without someone trying to prove me wrong...Thats what opinions are for, they are never wrong...Thats what makes us individuals, we can think for ourselves. But thats cool, no worries...
SanguineSolitude
noone was attacking your opinion jonnysgirl, merely your logic. and your logic was flawed rendering an opinion based on that logic questionable at best. to say that hookah must be better for you than cigarettes because its less irritating is not a logical deduction. do not get offended when someone argues with you. noone is saying you are wrong for wanting to continue smoking hookah, or even for that matter that you are wrong in that cigarettes are probably worse than hookah (although we cant be sure.) I'd rather make you think about your own and question it. I wasn't attacking your opinion at all just the means by which you drew your conclusions. It's faulty, but I did not invalidate you as a person, nor do I wish to do so. No hard feelings. Express your opinions. Don't let me persuade you to stop. Just don't expect me to be swayed into your line of thought through an emotional appeal and lack of logic...
Guest Abide
sorry, let me correct myself. they don't have to totally stop selling them, they just have to watch what they name them. this article wasn't the initial one i read, but here is something talking about it http://www.topix.net/content/trb/072661157...133530301470492
I especially enjoy that they cant name the tobacco product that you have to be 18 to buy after an alcoholic product you have to be 21 to buy ?!?! Johnny_D
It's possible i may take this back :- Been having some very very bizarre dizzy spells last few weeks. Bloody Pressure is dangerously high, so I'm on the tablets to help reduce it - which has helped the dizzy thing. So I guess until i find the underlying cause i will not be shisha'ing so much. Should know more a week monday. Blood tests... and i'm cronically Needle Phobic - what fun monday shall be! Allthough Mrs JD reckons i should still have a puff or two - Is this love or is she trying to kill me JD - Not smoked for 3 days
Joseph
Well, I can;t speak as too all of those aditives, but hookah tobacco has many additives too, I doubt that many but I would like to see a list of all the flavorings other chemicals used in shisha using all the organic nomenclature.
