burnt tobacco?

Recommended Posts

Somewhat of a newb question from a newb but, after I finish smoking and I go to clean out the bowl, when I pick up the metal screen, there is always a decent amount of tobacco that is burnt and stuck on the back side of it. Is it supposed to be like this? I dedfinately do NOT put a lot of tobacco in the bowl in the first place, but it's just a regular small clay bowl (statdand size).

yeah i had this problem too. You can make sure the tobacco is pushed down on all the sides and you can pack it fairly hard, as long as you blow through the other side. Blow softly or shisha will go everywhere. Blow soft, then you will be able to blow through clearly. THere is alway burnt tobacco in my bowl even when it smokes well. But thats just just me. I usually can just stir it up a little and its fine.

yup if it actualyl touches the screen than youll have that happen. Since i resuse my screens quite a lot, i tend to pack my tobacco down well. Just lightly fill the bowl up to the top, then pack the tobacco down. After that use a toohpick or the poker on some tongs and push up through the bottom of the bowl, through the tobacco. Hold the tobacco down with your fingers so the toothpick/poker will go through not just push it back up. This will give you a good amount of airflow but still keep it from touching the screen.

Good idea. I never have packed it before, because I always assumed it would be too tight.

Thanks everyone!
