To100YearsToLate
Went over to a friend's house the other night to smoke some hookah. Has the same type I do, a Syrian Chiller Style from Hookah-Shisha. We loaded up the bowl with some Splash brand Bahrani Apple, lit the coal, and I took the first hit. To my surprise, I got a grainy sensation in my mouth, like I just licked the beach. I ran over to the sink and spit it out... black specks, appearing to be coal residue. He says "oh yeah I should have washed the hose" Everyone I have talked to said not to wash the hose out with water regularly... he does it before/after every smoking session. I've never done it with mine and do not have a crud problem. Is his hose comming apart from the inside due to the frequent cleaning with water? NERV
hoses get dirty its an inevitability, most hoses arent washable because the metal coil will rust, once it happens to a hose its best just to replace it unless it happens quickly and cleaning is worththe effort, sometimes you can blow the chunks out, or you can hit the body of the hose against the ground to loosen them up, not to hard now, a little faster than gravity, but from what ive seen, the best thing to do is own multiple hoses, if one gets dirty, stop using it, let sit for at least a week in a warm dry place, the moisture inside the hose and chunks evaporates, you can just flex the hose around and the now brittle dirt will come right off and looks more like black power and you can blow any excess out, what I do tho, is i have made a washable hose, its a plastic body so it can handle water fine, sure it aint as pretty but its the best hitting hose ive used
entrailsgalore
When you let a hose sit over time, the smoke buidl sup into residue. Also the leather tends to corrode and little pieces of the leather fall of. And when you inhale your egetting these little particles in your mouth. SO its a good idea to always blow out on yoru hose after youre doen smoking, and also before you start your smokign session. Washing your hose on a regular basis helps ensure an enjoyable smokign session.
TheHookahGurus
That crap you just dragged into your mouth was a mixture of coal, smoke, and burnt shisha residue. After every use of my hookah i make sure to wash it out and i have never experianced any rust. My recommendation to you is to soak you hose in a very hot soapy water solution for about 1-2 hours. Trust me, you will be rather appauled by the brown water that comes out of the hose after soaking it. Its quite discusting, but atleast you are assured you have gotten a lot of that junk out of the hose. Also, I recommed doing the same to all your hookah parts with the hose (soaking it that is). -Mac
Mathazar
www.hookahkings.com, www.cleopatraimports.com and www.HookahShisha.com all sell washable hoses. I would buy one of those before I would soak a regular hose in water. The metal tubing inside of a regular hose is BOUND to rust. It's not stainless steel inside your hose, so that ought to tell you something right there. Buy a washable hose, with plastic tubing, and you'll probably never have to buy a replacement hose EVER again
To100YearsToLate
The thing that puzzles me about it is that I've had no hosecrud problems with mine. We've had them for almost exactly the same amount of time.
piperdown
Has anyone tried running warm soapy water through the hose and then blowing out w/compressed air? Good/bad for hoses?
HookahCulture
I have a Jordanian washable hose, I'm SO HAPPY with it. It's made by M.E. Tobacco, I think the same company that makes Al Waha. The logo has the "swoosh." I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. CLEANING: I use hot water mixed with lavender PineSol. Pour in about a cupful, swish end to end and unplug the UP end to allow full flow. Back and forth several times, dump, repeat, rinse, then hang the hose to drip dry. Only needs washing every month or so of heavy use! (The hammer and the anvil! -- Judas Priest) --Reiner
