Changing bases

Recommended Posts

Shouldn't be a problem. I have a really cool vase that fades from dark blue on the bottom to light blue on top, and my small egyptian stem fits right into it. Besides the fact that I need about a gallon of water, it's just fine.

Sweet. I was just looking at replacment vases and noticed they are fairly cheap, so instead of buying another Qt base I want to get a cooler looking one. I wonder if it would be cheaper to build your own hookah buying everything individually

Got any TJ Max stores in your area? Quite a few people have had success just taking their hookah's stem into a TJMax and testing it out in all the different vases, and everyone found something that worked.

I would be hesitant in ordering a replacement base from online when I don't even know for sure if it would fit my stem.

The problem you would face is that the QT stem eclipses the mouth of the base... as far as I know.. MYA is really the only folks rinning a design like that.

Traditional stems are "male" and fit inside the base.

I imagine that something could be cooked up..... but it would take some "kitchen counter" engineering to make it happen.

right.. the downstem does go inside the mouth of the base, but the "heart" of the stem (where the purge and connection fits into) covers the outside of the mouth of the base.

Traditional vases and even MYA vases besides the mini and QT are setup for stems that seat up on the inside of the base instead of covering the nouth of the vase the way the QT does.
