SanguineSolitude
In this thread, Thedudeabides describes the hookahbar he went to on his birthday. He was kind enough to offer a sample of the homemade shisha this bar produces, and i was lucky enough to win it. You can read about it here http://hookahforum.com/great-b-day-surpris...light,bday.html Hookah Cafe Apple shisha. Note: now this is the second time ive smoked this (he sent two bowls worth) so ive got heat management down and the variables worked out. Here goes Setup: my SS egyptian, freshly cleaned specifically for this session (yeah it was that good the first time) Mya deluxe washable hose (also freshly cleaned) plain cold water, standard clay bowl, 3kings 40mm split in halves and quarters. foil, and a pot of moroccan mint tea for the drinking. ive also got a fresh apple from a local orchard to eat along with it. Appearance: this shisha resembled havana with much less coloring. nice medium sized cut with few stems and plenty of leaves. A light reddish-orange coloring to the tobacco, very pretty looking made me eager to smoke it even before i got it out of the bag. plenty moist, not swimming in juice, but just the way i like it, sticky but moist enough to smoke perfectly. essentially this looked just how i want my shisha to look. very appealing indeed! I let it acclimate for about 4 hours just to be safe. 9.5/10 for a couple stems. picture taken from Tylers post (he didnt sent me that much... the bastard. joking:P ) Smell (raw): WOW if youve ever had freshly pressed apple cider (as in youre the one turning the press) you know how this stuff smells. Delicious smelling. I also have a habit of eating a piece of tobacco when i get a new kind. this stuff was delicious it actually tasted like a fresh apple. God i cant wait to smoke it. 10/10 Smoke quality: Beautiful puffy light blocking clouds. Perfect for blowing rings and generally fooling about with. perfect! 10/10 Smell (smoke): delicious apple cider smell that fills the room. this stuff is damn good. 10/10 Flavor: This literally couldnt be more spot on for flavor. if you take a big puff of this stuff and then take a bite of apple you have a tough time telling which was the apple and which the shisha. Its beautifully sweet without being too sweet, lovely sour fresh apple notes and a lingering taste in the mouth. I could smoke this for hours. Harshness? we dont need no stinkin harshness, and there is none. (harshness meaning not me sucking at heat management but rough feeling smoke like nakhla) flawless flavor! By far the best apple ive ever had 10/10 Buzz: nice medium buzz, the kind that sinks you into your chair. Wonderful. not too much not too little. the guy who makes this stuff is good! 10/10 Duration: ive been going for a good half hour and nothings changed. still wonderful. the first bowl i smoked lasted around and hour and a half (durn good for a standard clay sized bowl) 10/10 (wish it would last forever but thats asking too much) Overall: well if my math isnt terrible 69.5/7 is a 9.92/10. this is easily one of the best smokes ive ever had. This is what apple should taste like. tart tangy and realistic. Wonderful Smoke. My only complaint is that i dont have a kilo bucket of the stuff. Thanks so much Tyler, i know it wasnt easy to part with this stuff. If you have a chance to get some of this stuff.... DO IT!!!!!

yashman19
Haven't been a big fan of apple flavors, because many of them tend to be anise based. Glad to see these guys being so sucessful with their own concoction. Very jealous over here

SanguineSolitude
i really want to try some of the other flavors this place offers. the apple was so phenomenal and apples arent even my favorite flavors (though i like them alot) a fabulous peach or apricot or such would be amazing. The Dude Abides
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Sang. I've been smoking a lot of the apple and liking it quite a bit, but the peach was reallllllly unbelievable, as is their canteloupe. Actually, I think it is a safe bet that all Hookah Cafe's homemade ma'assel flavors are exquisite. Its almost hard to believe such good stuff is actually even possible.
