MYA draw concerns..

Recommended Posts

Ok i've been seeing some posts about MYA's having a hard draw...and i'm concerned b/c i'm about to order a MYA friday.....should i look into something else possibly? My friend's hookahs draw really easily and i'm looking for a similar experience with my own hookah..

Sorry i know i've been asking alot of opinions on my first hookah....but i dont have the cash flow to buy something shitty and to have to get something different afterwards..

Thanks again in advance!! :)

One thing you could do is email Mya and ask them for a measurement on the stem diameter, and then compare that to your friend's hookah. Like I just said in another thread, I've been dissatisfied with the stem diameter on more than one Mya hookah, but that doesn't necessarily reflect their entire line of products...

Who ever was complaining about a "draw" problem on a mya, were doing something wrong, IE Packing the bowl too tight, too much water, the ball bearing not being in all the way...

*edited*

I don't think I have ever smoked out of a Mya that has a draw problem due to design

I second Erica's comments about perhaps packing it too tight? Could be the reason. You'd think with all the thousands of sales Mya has made on hookahs, more than a few comments regarding the tight draw would have come up.

I don't have a mya though, so take this as you will.

there is no problem, but the stem is narrower than many other makes

e.g., some of the shishas we bought from Egypt are a heck of alot wider and there is a noticable difference when you pull.

It's easily noticable side by side with a wider one, but generally I wouldn't say it's anything to be concerned about. Every shisha has its pros and cons.

I was shocked when I took apart my Mya Bohemian and saw how narrow the stem is. But it's like King Mo said -- it's not a problem per se, but if having an easier draw is really important to you, you should ask Mya for some specs on whatever model you're considering.

you can adjust your draw on your hookah, usually they are not entirely responsbile for the draw. I know myas dont have a hard draw, they have a very soid average draw- maybe its a tight hose your thinking of

I've had people complain about the pull on my QT because its actually too soft, which I consider a good thing. They're used to sucking on my brother's hookah, so when they go for a hit off the QT they get more smoke than they want and whine about how harsh it is.

yea the hose also helps, but when doing a comparison, you would assume the hose is the same width in either case.

I have physically sucked on the hose connector of the MYA acrylic and the MYA QT and also the hose connector of a standard egyptian shisha with a wider diameter.

there is a significant difference.

It won't mean your shisha won't smoke well, but if you are a perfectionist then it may be an issue.

Personally, I'm not bothered, the MYA has a decent pull whereas the wider shishas have an 'above-decent' pull.

I am satisfied with decent, and this is offset by the convenience of some of the features of the MYA as well as the build quality.
