iknewmroctopus
Does anyone know if the foil used to cover a hookah bowl burn off and go into the smoke? I heard that aluminium in the system causes alzheimer's. I've thought about it before but never too deeply. Any thoughts?
NERV
it kno it can happen, but doesnt happen often, ive experienced 2 kinds of harsh smoke, 1 when the tobacoc burns, it just tastes bad and is slvagable by blowing the valve, but when the burning get hot enough to melt the foil you know the flavor is awful and you should just stop there, ive only had it happen 2 or 3 times in my 4 years but i kno it is possible for the foil to melt
Mathazar
Tin foil, from what I understand, will burn-off and go into the system. Don't use metal screens for smoking because they SUCK!!! You should be safe with aluminum foil, but make sure you get the thin foil, not the heavy-duty stuff. Everybody uses aluminum foil. If I were you, I'd order a bunch of Hookah foil packs from a company like Hookah-Shisha.com, because they're convenient and thin. I'm using store bought aluminum foil, and it's a pain in the neck to always have to cut-off pieces for my smoke. The reason being because I smoke several bowls a day and I find myself constantly cutting pieces of foil.
To100YearsToLate
hookah foils have no additives like store bought aluminium foil and are the safest alternative.
HookahCulture
Stainless steel screens are OK, but your bowl won't last as long. With a new steel screen, braize it with a blow torch to burn off any surface impurities. I have an attachment for small propane cannisters. Someone on a forum earlier this year works in a shop and can make stainless steel screens. I want to sell them now but can't find him...... Hookah foils are THINNER than household foil as well, so less carcinogens are burned off from THAT foil, simply because there's less present! Only use foils made for hookahs if you're gonna use foil at all! "The Hammer and the Anvil" -- Judas Priest
