jonny_lech
I'm having trouble with my Mya. For a long time, all was well, and the smoke and the flavor was good. But lately it hasn't been up to snuff. It's not that the shisha is dried out; it's very moist, some is some nahkla I bought just last weekend. I mean, last night my roomie and myself put in some Pharoah Honey Dew Melon which has been very good to us. It got rave reviews at our last party. But the melon flavor was not nearly as strong, in fact it was hardly there. This isn't an isolated incident. I'm beginning to suspect something is wrong with the hookah itself. Being a n00b when I bought the hookah in April, and having had my hookahmentor jump across the pond to the UK, it took me a while to discover the virtues of running water through the hose. But now I wash it out after every session with hot water until the water runs clear. Is it possible there's some grossness still living in there? What about the bowl? I've broken it and superglued it back together a few times. It's ceramic and it's around the edges from use. Is this to blame? I wash it before use too. What about the piping, stem. Will it rust in there? If so, how do I clean it out? I've been using a wirebrush on the inside every few sessions, but again, it was several months before I started doing this. Is it possible it hit some point where it was so gummed up without proper maintenance, that it is now damned? Or is it possibly just lack of finesse in my technique as of late? Any thoughts opinions are most welcome before I drop money on replacement equipment...
azcoyote
YOU may find changing the hose will improve things considerably. Really strong flavors can be hard to clean off. Cleaning stem with a bore brush and warm soapy water should be all that's needed. Rinse well to avoid foam in the jar. Don't neglect to swab out the hose port(s) with an alcohol soaked q-tip from time to time. Likewise be sure to get the bowls clean inside and out. Soak in warm soapy water and rinse well. Wrap a napkin or paper towel around your pinky and swab out the inside cavity where the bowl fits on the stem. That just about covers cleaning. Do all these things and your pipe should perform good as new. Let us know!
Calcartman
You said the flavor wasn't there, how was the smoke? My first thoughts when my hookah isn't smoking right: 1. Heat management. I'm going to assume this is fine 2. Hookah=Airtight. If you're using a cracked bowl its possible you're getting air that doesn't pass through the heated shisha. 3. Acclimate Shisha. Just because it smoked good a week ago doesn't mean the conditions for it to smoke well have stayed the same.
Lakemonster
I've broken it and superglued it back together a few times.
Theres the problem....... Not good, man...... superglue and heated object used in order to create vapor to be inhaled is a VERY bad idea. Discontinue bowl use.
jonny_lech
Well we Well, it's been in the glued state for a while now( a few months)...I would assume it's 'cured' by now, but yea, that makes total sense. Should I be really worried?
Calcartman
i don't know about "worried" but i would get a new bowl (or 5). bowls are cheaper than new lungs.

jonny_lech
Follow up...went to the store today, got a new hose and bowl...it's like having a new hookah! I think my old hose was rusting inside, perhaps. Definitely worth the $10 for a new bowl and hose!
Joseph
Get a washable hose and you will never have a rust problem again.
