Got Stuff!! (Now with pictures!)

Recommended Posts

Happy Thursday to you all. Chuckle-heads  .

I got my new Hookah in from Smoking-Hookah. It's a pretty thing. I'm sure most of you know the first one had a cracked shaft, and smoking-hookah replaced it pretty quickly. They also sent another hose (I guess to make up for the inconvenience.) It is like the MYA/Syrian style hoses, but isn't quite as long. Doesn't matter because it's 100% air tight. I'm sure it's washable as I already own one like it, and some good washables, and they ALL wash just fine.
Anyhow, on to the new hookah (which I'll get picks up for soon enough). MRS. Bubble and I tried it out with Nakhla Esk apple (hookahcompany.com) and have very little taste. Hmm. Strange as it's a 32 inch Egyptian, so nothing should be different than what I'm used to. Well, upon closer examination, I noticed the base is a little shorter than my standard large Egyptians, and the shape is more along the lines as one of my Syrians THAT I CANNOT GET ANY FLAVOR OUT OF EITHER! Hmm. Very interesting. The shaft may be as tall as my others, but it's diameter is smaller. No taste from my Esk. Right now, I'm smoking my single hose Egyptian (I got in Egypt) with the Esk apple and it is such a delight to smoke. The shisha tastes so good and I'm using the same bowl and coal setup as the new double hoser. What gives? As of right now, I can't give this new hookah a good rating. I can only assume I'm doing the wrong things. I've never had a double hoser before, but we hold our finger over the hose when the other is smoking, and it creates nice, thick smoke. No more air leakage than any other Egyptian hookah, and will need a tune-up, but it's so minimal it shouldn't be any factor. I'm open for ideas anyone.

Waiting on pins and needles,
MR Bubble

Another haunted hookah. Not the first.

Seriously though...i can't think of a single reason the same stuff would smoke differently in your new hookah, especially using the same BOWL for crying out loud. I can't imagine any of the minor differences in pipe diameter and vase size and shape would make a difference.

Just wasn't meant for you...send it to me....

I gave her a tune-up, so we'll see how she runs later. May name her Medusa.

congrats on the purchase.

I have never ever tried a multi-hose shisha. I've always wondered how they smoke.

If there's no taste? could be an air problem?

I'm sure you know what you're doing, but try smoking with one hose and blocking the other connector, just in case the second hose may be interferring with the setup.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Actually, I wouldn't repeat this purchase given the chance. It just doesn't feel like an Egyptian hookah. I mean it's nice and beefy and all, but I've been spoiled by my other solid shaft jobs. I have one left and dread the day it dies. The vase isn't normal Egyptian stuff. For one, it's too delicate feeling. A true Egyptian base is very thick on the bottom and heavy. You can actually feel the ruggedness of them. I think the folks at smoking-hookah are getting some dainty cheap vases to save a couple $. Remember the key word: I THINK. One other thing for thought. I don't know how lucky you all have been on Egyptian hookah purchases, but Every one (heavy duty) I've owned needed tuning-up. That is, they all seem to have little air leaks in the welds, requiring a dab or twelve of GE silicone sealant. If you look close enough at the picture of the purge valve (which I'm proud to see on an Egyptian 2-hoser) you can see a bit of the sealant around it. Not a big deal for me, as I've come to realize Egyptian quality has issues. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: They will sell you a bucket with a hole in it, because you know, as well as they know, it can be used just fine after you patch it. A concept we're not quite used to. One other thing: I would have appreciated a stopper of some kind for the 2nd hose port, so I can smoke it solo. Not a big deal. I just made one from a stick and duct tape.
Anyway, thanks again for the compliments, and after all my bitching about it, it will smoke just fine once I'm through with it.

wow looks beatiful!

however I'm having the same problem with my egyptian. just got my first 22 inch from hookah-shisha and I was kinda dissipointed at first. the metal where u place the hose into was real rough and kinda scraped up and I too have these leaks that u have. the silicon is a genious idea! I was thinking hot glue or something but that's perfect.
