Dizzixx
So I recently picked up hookahing, a friend of mine on a impulse bought one from a local smoke shop. I enjoyed it so much that I would like to buy my own. A few things to note. I dont want the same one, but I would like something that is small, smokes well, is sturdily built, and not exspensive, also purchased from a trusted retailer. http://shisha-hookah.com/Mya-Saray-Blue-Gl...72-p-18496.html That is what my friend got, well allmost what he has, the base is the same but the stem on his is skinnier and taller, but more or less the same thing it came with a cage, tongs, one hose, two 50g sheesha packs, and a 10pc. of golden self light coals. From what I can gather this is a QT but I am not sure what a QT is and why people like them? What makes this better than other things? The hookah I would like is found here - http://shisha-hookah.com/Red-Junior-Hookah...72-p-18607.html But I dont know if that is a good or bad purchase, I like the size , the overall look, and the fact that it comes with a sturdy case. Not to mention that is the price range I am looking at. And as far as accesories go does anyone have any suggestions? Like can either of these be converted to use two hoses? Or what about an Ice tray and what kind and how much, ect. ect. I understand there is some kind of allmost rivalry between the egyptian users and the QT users , why? What is the difference in experiance? I have been able to gather some places that some people think that the shape of the base or size in proportion to the stem as well as the distance from the end of the stem to the bottom of the base is all supposed to make a considerable difference in the smoke? Does it and why? Also I have mostly set up my friends and the first time we did it hap hazard and more or less kinda went at it blind, the smoke was amazing! it was smooth and full . Lately I have been having a problem repliccating said experience. I have tried all kinds of stuff. More water less water, more holes in the foil, ice, less holes, more coal, moving the coal, packing the tobaco, making sure it isnt even remotely packed, checking all the seals, ect. ect. And I have had very very different results everytime. I would like to maintain some kind of consistency with my smoking experiance so if anyone could help me out it would be very appreciated. DizzyGuy
The first one is a QT... First off, it's a MYA... which means that it's well built and backed by an excellent vendor... People say that it smokes really well for the size, but that it's a bit tighter draw. Can't really tell you much about the second one. http://www.hookahforum.com/all-discount-co...mers-t5876.html There is a thread showing the different discounts for vendors The ones listed are pretty much all gonna be good, trusted vendors... genuinehookah has had mixed reviews and most people would rather go to Social Smoke, Hookah Company, or hookah-shisha *yes, different from shisha-hookah*. I can't remember anything off the top of my head about shisha-hookah... As for the rivalry, it's up to the looks and feel of the hookah. My first hookah was a 36" Egyptian from Social Smoke. I loved that thing and it smoked great. I then broke down and bought a Stargate from Taqseem because I really really like the way it looks... the two are slightly different in smoking, but i'd rate them about the same... really, I think you can make any *QUALITY* hookah smoke the same. I put emphasis on quality because there are some hookahs out there that are, well... crap. Hope this has helped you some and I'm sure there will be other people along soon to add more and help you better answer your questions.
SanguineSolitude
oh and if you get the socialsmoke get one of the synthetic leather hose options. yeah its a 1.50 more but it will save you the price of a new hose a couple months down the road. plus theyre mya hoses which are about the best. yashman19
2nd'ing SSs comment on the junior. It looks cool, but the QT is far superior to the junior. I've owned a junior, very similar to that one (different stem), and the draw was very tight, and didn't give me quite as much smoke as I was looking for. The juniors downstem is a bit narrower than most hookahs, which I assume is the reason for the hookah being so much tighter on the draw. With a fatter downstem, more smoke can be pulled through compared to one with a narrower stem. And I really wouldn't call it a rivalry between QT and egyptian owners. They are really two completely different hookahs... QT represents as the leader in quality for the small hookahs, while egyptians tend to range from 20+" catagory. Both, if sealed properly, can give you the thick clouds. I really don't think people with QTs hate egyptian owners, and vice versa, especially since people who own them typically own both types. Most people start with an egyptian, and want to get something more portable, so they go with a QT.
DizzyGuy
Looks like the same thing... BTW, I forgot to ask... what coals/tobacco are you using? Screen? Foil?
SanguineSolitude
my suggestions stand. if you want a small hookah theres nothing better than the qt. if you want a hookah that doesnt look like a toy and that smokes a bit better then get a socialsmoke egyptian (in your pricerange.) and yeah thats the same type as teh junior modern. cheap chinese junk hookahs. any hookah that costs 40 bucks and comes with a case is questionable. why is it so cheap? because its crap. as far as cheap hookahs go the qt is the exception. honestly for 40 bucks the qt is the ONLY option out there for what reason do you want a smaller hookah? im actually selling my 22 inch egyptian in order to buy a bigger one 30 inch
Dizzixx
I am just using regular aluminum foil from smiths, the shisha is hooka-hooka and roman it is what is available at the local smoke shop. The coals are in a round golden packaging I am unsure on the brand they are self lighting. Screen? I am not sure what you mean by screen? What is the best tobaco/coal mixture for very dense and flavorfull smoke, thats what I like , I enjoy it when the smoke is like milk , and you can taste the flavor from some distance away just by smelling the smoke. Also I prefer cool drags, but so long as it is harsh like a cig or something it isnt too big of a deal. I want a smaller hookah because I like taking it different places to smoke, the park, someones house ect. That and on the weekednds it is a bit of a social scene a number of friends and I get together and smoke the hookah, and often these get togethers move locale from time to time or even during the process of one evening. SanguineSolitude
they make aluminum screens that you put coals on in place of foil. its a big topic of contention, some like em some like foil. i like foil. sounds like you are using golden charcoals. 3kings like they sell at ss are better imo. but goldens are pretty decent. romman... woah that stuffs expensive but good quality. hookah hookah is ok. i like havana alot. and many people swear by al amir, al fakher, layalina, starbuzz, nakhla, and al waha. the latter two being cheaper than the rest. break your coals into smaller pieces and spread them across the bowl for the max flavor and smoke. they wont last as long but the flavor is worth it small hookah the qt is the way to go. but i refuse to smoke my qt with friends. too small . i like a good sized hookah, looks better
SanguineSolitude
i dont know how much between the mini and the medium but thats venturing into too small for a hookah. at the same time socialsmoke doesnt really sell bad products so it probably smokes ok. no idea about the bags but for 3 bucs difference id get the cooler looking ss one. all i can tell you is that you wouldnt be disappointed with either the qt or medium. I have no experience with the mini and cant really tell you how it smokes. generally for a hookah (qt being the only real exception) you want at least 22 inches. it lets the smoke cool more (this is why the qt can get harsh sometimes where bigger ones wouldnt) and has a larger chamber for more and thicker smoke. SanguineSolitude
you can also use a bigger pipe to make your friends hookah look little and you can make all sorts of comments like 14 inches eh... yeah thats cute. nah mines only 28 but you know they say size isnt everything right. wait whose they again? Dizzixx
LOL I will keep that in mind but I really want it to be convienent and cheap, but being the bastard I am I want it to be as good as it gets as well. Well I am probably going to go with the medium when I get the cash.

Sonthert
If that junior is the one that I am thinking of, its a real shitbag. Just get a Mya with a different color jar...that should be different enough.
