entrailsgalore
Ok I dont know if there are any threads about this already but Ill post another one just in case. If youre new to hookah or you want to see how I set mine up, here is a little tutorial with some pics. BTW, my dogs have knocked this hookah over a million times so my tray is bent lol. The pics are kind of big so I will just link them for you guys. Setting up a Hookah : Step 1: You will need the following - A bowl, grommets, a hose, a base, a stem, and some tobacco of your choice. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/27484...061050066YArPyf Step 2: Fill the base with water, then attach the stem to the base. Make sure the end of the stem is submerged in atleast an inch of water, this will garantee an even pull and thicker smoke. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/26439...061050066VkARCn Step 3: Choose the flavor you want to smoke, I loaded Starbuzz Candy shisha. Premo stuff. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/26142...061050066qJchxd Step 4: Proceed to load your tobacco into your bowl. Try to break up the shisha if its clump up and gently just let it "fall" into the bowl. You do not want to pack it too tight as this will block airflow. I usually pack the bowl to the top of the bowl and no further. Although if you want a harder smoke you can pack it a quarter of an inch higher than the top of the bowl, just to pack it too tight. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/29411...061050066CsjVOa Step 5: Cover the bowl with a strip of foil, I usually go shiney side down but its up to you. Then poke a bunch of small holes in the foil. A general rule I use is the bigger the holes, the fewer. The smaller the holes, the more you should poke. Some brands though, Like Tangiers, requires alot of bigger holes to smoke so keep that in mind. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/20229...061050066bRdgzL Step 6: Place a grommet in the underside of the bowl then attach the bowl to the hookah. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/21581...061050066VSUOFo Step 7: Now youre hookah is all setup, go fire up some coals and smoke out! http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/27005...061050066mbQTbG I hope this helps some people, if not atleast youll see one of my hookahs. I bought it at a smoke shop in vegas about a year ago, and Im not 100% what type it is, it has a lot of features of a Syrian so I just call it a Syrian hookah. The hookah stem can dismantle to 4 separate parts, which makes cleaning very easy and it can store in small cases or bags. But I like to have it fully asembled since its just quicker to load up. ztephen
Is the rubber thing that connects the stem from the bowl suppose to be loose, or no force is required to properly seal that part of the hookah?
SanguineSolitude
you should need to wet it a bit or at least apply some effort to get it in. you dont want it loose otherwise you dont get a good seal.

entrailsgalore
Yes, you want it snug, but not tight. The weight from the stem will seal any air gaps in the grommet. If you have a tight seal, wetting it before putting it on will always help. And you should try NOT to force the stem directly down into the base, you could damage your hookah this way. Instead TWIST the stem while SLIGHTLY pushing down, almost like your screwing on a bottle cap. This will achieve the same thing, but less of a risk and easier. TheHookahLounge.org
yeah, i get these kinds of questions on my blog alot and one of the things that a lot of people ask is all about how to get your hookah to be smooth. if your hookah is harsh then slide on by my blog and check out a quick fix for it.. http://www.thehookahlounge.org/2006/07/02/...y-hookah-harsh/ YEAH, enjoi da hookah BRO
Sonthert
I find that putting the gasket on the hookah and then the bowl on the gasket works better than putting the gasket in the head and then putting the gasket/head on the hookah.
entrailsgalore
Yeah it does, I normally do that but this bowl has a smaller neck and sometimes it doesnt fit right, so I just put the grommet in first.
[LB]
that starbuzz candy looks yummmmy, but your bowl looks a little overpacked. If you wanan pack a lot of tbac and still get a good smoke, try finding a bigger bowl
