suicideguy
Since I'm a poor college, would it be good for my hookah if I cleaned it with actual lemons "borrowed" from the cafeteria and just squeezed them myself?
Skimo
shit why not? it's not going to hurt it and I think it might work better, not sure on the being better though
aronparsons
Use some soap and rinse it out well. I've never had a problem with it and it's always on hand.
suicideguy
Well I'd have to actual use some of my soap which means having to buy more sooner when I can just take some lemons from the cafeteria for free. So pure lemon juice wouldn't cause any harm to it or anything? I don't think it will, but I figured I'd ask first.
Skimo
To my knowledge no it wouldn't

suicideguy
I guess lemon juice is the be all to end all solution to cleaning hookahs. Woohoo.
EliteHookah.com
If you're worried about it just dilute it a bit in some water.

imonlyapuppet
I understand the poor college student thing, but soap really isn't that expensive. If you can't afford soap I don't know why you're indulging yourself with the hookah and some internet access
web250
I wouldn't use soap, as it can leave a layer of soap film on your hookah. And you do not want that in your lungs. Hot water, and some lemon juice works like a charm.
zzzzzT
I would guess vodka or some form of alcohol would work well. I used to use whisky to clean my pipes, it really dissolves the tar and junk well. I just use watered down dishsoap to clean my hookah with no problems. You don't want to use this on non washable hoses though.
EliteHookah.com
It still amazes me that people use good liquor in conjunction with their hookah pipes. I can barely afford to buy some to drink now and then. I also would not recommend using any soap on your hookah.
OPR234
The only bad thing about using soap is that it can be a real hassle to rinse away. You could probably use almost any cleaning solution on your hookah if you wanted to take the time to rinse it ALL off so it doesnt affect the taste and isnt toxic or anything. Alcohols and vinegar/lemon juice arent harmful, do the job well, and rinse off easily.
CaliforniaRose
has no one ever tried the dishwasher?........i swear to god it works like a charm for me. never hurt my gold mya hookah ever
This may sound like a dumb question but, can you put the stem in a dishwasher? I've put my base in but not my stem, and being able to use my dishwasher would save time.

worr lord
Just used lemon juice (concentrated) to clean my hookah and hose. Worked quite well, but it was a pain in the ass to get the taste out of the hose.
Sonthert
You can put anything in a dishwasher...if you did put your shank in there, I would not use any soap and make sure the dishwasher was cleaned out real well. Dishwasher soap tends to be real sticky.
