Scalliwag
But my ass would end up in jail over a lousy $57 and I would have come across as an asshole. They set the price and the responsibility of knowing the price is on the customer. Do I have a right to tell everybody what happened and that I think they suck? Hell yes. Will I? Hell yes. Will people not go because of what I tell them? Hell yes. Was it smart on my part not to check the price? Hell no. This was a place I planned to frequent weekly most weeks. I will still go out weekly like I have done forever now. It was steady money they lost out on. On most weeks I would eat there and have more bowls because I would have got there early and brought friends. My guess is $150 to $200 everytime I came and potentially more on party weeks because that is usually a pretty average night out with the guys. It's money out of their pocket now. Lakemonster
I've only seen around $25 a head on a menu once. That was at an trendy restaurant and the hookah had some sort of hocus pocus mix in the bowl and booze in the bucket. Im still taken back a tad by that price. wow. Pieces
The standard prices at Heat are thus: Regular Al Amir bowl: $15 Regular Starbuzz: $20 House Blends (Starbuzz mixes): $25 I've even told them that they need to lower the price a bit, and they forgot to give Scalli his 25% off the hookahs. Sorry it sucked Scalli.
Scalliwag
hopefully they will eventually take your advice on that. You were saying that they are going to start selling food. Maybe since most people only smoke when they get there they have to be pricier, I dunno. At Cafe' Medi ou have to have a food order. Ms. Scalli and I split a red snapper plate, a side of potato wedges, that pita like bread, and I smoke a bowl for 3 hours on the patio and it was $40 WITH the tip. Second bowls are almost always less than the first bowl in any lounge. The crazy part is one of the reasons I even ordered any bowls is because I would have felt like a mooch to show up just for the free taste test and leave like just about everyone else did. I had ate and was not hungry before I came so appetizers would have been a waste. The flavs in the taste test were not my cup of tea so the easy idea to show apreciation for the hospitality was to get a bowl. That cryptonite flavor was not in line with my taste so I opted for the vanilla-peach we had at the party. So there was an order to show a little gratitude. I just ended up showing more gratitude than I planned. I am the type that if a place makes for a real nice time I tip well. The first time was $15 on a $25 tab. Appreciation is a two way street and there was a complete lack of that key ingredient friday night.
cabanapatio
25 for a blend? ouch! I know of other places that charge about the same for "house mix" or a "mothers special" but thats way too much for a bowl of any kind. honestly, I've been to Heat when it first opened up and i wasn't too impressed with the place. It's actually my friend's family establishment... :?
Scalliwag
I like the place and the staff is nice. My only bitch is the price. If those prices are on the menu it is 100% my fault except for the forum discount which I can see how that could easily get missed. But last week I had looked at the menu and I don't remember the prices that high for the bowls. They have a nice sound system and the DJ is really good. The VIP room has a really nice ambience and would be the perfect place for pulling up against your galpal for a night. With a good dinner menu and a lower priced bowl and even lower on second bowls the place would be hard to not like a LOT. I am very disappointed this went this way because it was so convenient between Dallas and Fort Worth. If they make some changes and after the sting of this wears off a bit I could come back eventually. Hell they may not want me if all this comes back to them But this was a 100% honest evaluation of that night so I don't owe any apologies.

I'm hoping that I can convince him to lower the prices, because I don't agree with them either. But at least the food will be awesome, I can assure you of that
Scalliwag
Good luck on that bro. I hope that the being pissed subsides and it's a place I want to go back to.

No Show
Sorry it sucked for you Scalli, i know i wont be going there! as for the prices...Velvet Hookah in Deep Ellum is even MORE expensive for their house blends...the cheapest we got was $25! i think we had 2-$25 bowls and one $30 bowl...expensive, yes, but it was my buddy mike and I's first time to a hookah bar...so although expensive we figured we'd indulge ourselves. Our buddy who took us there was unphased by the prices for some reason. No that i have become a somewhat regular smoker...i will RARELY if ever go back to a hookah bar myself. The prices are just too ridiculous when i can go home and chill with some buddies and make our own blends.

Scalliwag
if they had belly dancers and maybe live arabic styled bands I would be a little more inclined to pay more.
