I was late into the Narghile scene. Was about 22 when i first tried it in Israel.
Then went on to smoke it all over the middle east From Turkey to Syria and most places inbetween.

I was 20, I started about a year ago. A friend from work had asked me if I had ever heard of it. He invited me to a local lounge to try it out, and I told my mom I was going out to a local lounge to try hookah. Not much she could say, seeing as how I'm not a child anymore.

I am 27 (28 in Dec.) I consider myself a tobacco enthusiast and this was just one more way to smoke. I am relatively new to the hobby about 5 months or so. I really like smoking hookah and reading this board.

My folks have been with me when out buying hookah stuff..... Mom just rolls her eyes and shakes her head.

I got interested in hookah back when I was heavy into pipe carving, one of a pipe forum members started talking about hookah and I really wanted to try it. I got on eBay and saw that these things dont sell for for the price of eggs, so I bought a cheap Indian hookah for $25 and smoked it a few times... the experieance was unimpressive and the hookah went in a box. Six months later I began to search the internet about hookahs and found that the one I had was not all that hot for smoking. I then bought a real hookah from Social Smoke. I was set.

Im down to 6 hookahs now. I guess Ive been smoking for 3 or so years.

I remember how much trouble I had hiding cigarettes back in the days of my youth.

I can only imagine trying to hide a pipe, coals, shisha containers, bringing ice and water into my room, the danger of burned carpets, cleaning kits and the fact that your personal area smells vaguely like a fruit salad.

I'll be damned, the good ol' days of my youth [i]were[/i] easier.

I am currently 20 years old. I started hookah at the ripe age of 15. My ex-boyfriend randomly bought one, and I was like, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING!!! He said "a hookah" haha It was a shitty pipe from a company called Hookah Bros. There was some cafe down in Lake Forest we would go to buy tobacco at and we used the shitty self lighting coals. The tobacco was HORRID but at the time, I LOVED IT. My mom never really cared... we would sit in the living room and watch amovie and smoke! It was awesome. Eventually we broke up and the hookah was left at my house, he basically gave it to me... last year I ended up giving to one of my co workers... haha it really was a pile of crap.. *shruggs*

I was 26 when I started. A buddy and I went to the Hookah Cafe in New Orleans on a vacation the year before Hurricane Katrina. I haven't been back since the storm but hope to take my wife back soon.

My first flavor was grape al waha at my firends insistence, which I hated. I hate artificial grape flavoring like grape gum, grape popsicles, etc. The food was OK so we stuck around for a while and I ordered some AA Mango, and that quickly changed my opinion.

When we came back we were kicking around the idea of opening a hookah cafe in Eugene, but then the smoking ban became a reality. Could only do it if the business was like 90% tobacco related sales. So that axes out the idea of serving food and drinks.

i'm 18 started around 16ish my parent have no idea. So at time they wonder why my room smells like riped peaches and vanilla XD and for me it's not that hard to hide my hookah pipe. First time i ever tried hookah was at my older brother's friends house and he has a imported hookah from iraq (he used to live there) its like 5' or so. well im 27 now and i think i started when i was 25. my best friend was in the marines and brought a hookah home from the middle east while he was on duty over there. a few weeks after i tried it i was hooked and bought my own.

i started when i was 18(almost 19) and am 20 now. I just straight up told my parents no lies or anything neccessary. My first time was at a random guys house who me and a buddy happened to visit. he had a nice syrian hookah setup and they were smoking mint shisha. asked me if i would like a puff and i said yes i would. i thought it was great. about a week passed and another of my friends mentioned he liked smoking hookah, we smoked some waha strawberry i believe, and it was then that i knew i needed to get myself a hookah. So i bought a ss egyptian the very same night and have been smoking ever since. I now have 2 hookahs and will be getting a 3rd. though i probably will sell one of the 2 i have.

I started about a month after I turn 18. I went up to Purdue University and had heard about hookahs for some reason and really wanted to try it. I went to the hookah bar there tried it, loved it and probably 2 weeks later went and got one of my own. I am now 20 and love it more then ever.

ive been smoking for a little over a year (wish i could find the date). my first hookah experience started when i bought my first hookah on my friends suggestion. neither of us had tried it, and we were curious. im not a smoker, but for some reason i was comfortable with hookah. i tried it, my parents tried it, now my mom and i smoke together on the back porch sometimes (when it is not 20 below)

umm lets see it was probally back when i was 15 at a local hookah loung. they werent the best lounge around but they didnt ID so thats why we went there!!
now im 17 and just got my first egyptian about 2 weeks ago from hookah-shisha and loving it!!

maby its just me but alot of flavors taste the same. probally just a n00b at heat management etc.

It's not staying at my house, it's staying at my best friend's house. I couldn't imagine trying to hide a hookah either.

17 when i started, almost 21 now. A couple of friends and I ended up in a Hookah bar in downtown Vancouver. At the time, the owner didn't ask for ID. (For those Vancouverites out there, it was The Persian Tea House on Davie, near Grandville)

I started smoking hookah at 20, almost 21. The first time I smoked hookah was at a Hillel event, then my ex and I decided to buy one. Being Newbies, we ended up buying a small and crappy one in town for way more then we should have paid. When we broke up he got the hookah, but I continued to smoke hookah at Hillel events and hookah bars when I travelled (No Hookah Bar intown).

For my one year anniversary with my current boyfriend we decided that we would split the cost of a hookah (among other gifts) as an anniversary/housewarming gift to ourselves since we just moved into an apartment with an outdoor patio together. We got a 26in Egyptian Painted Blue base from hookah-shisha. Since I'm 22 now, its been about 2 years of smoking. But I tend to only smoke once or twice a month.

As for my parents, they know i smoke hookah but don't know I own my own hookah. My dad used to smoke out of a hookah in the 1960's, but he wasn't smoking tobacco. He's made many a joke about that. :wink:
